There is more I hate about the saints than like right now

They don't give me what I want. I want a team that is all about youth movement without slow older players in the way. The more chances a younger player is given the better they will be. I hate all the recycling of the older players, veterans, Brees' and Payton's antics, the so called "superior posters" here falling in love with too many older players because of holding on to the past instead of embracing the future.

I'm not a falcons fan or a bucs fan. In fact if I ever turned on the saints, it would be for the colts or packers. Those are my second and third teams. But I'm not that type now(I turned on KC years ago). However, I'm starting to hate the fans because they root for stuff that's holding us back.

I've been vocal about things but saying youth movement its happening.

Look at the DBs and WRs
The line is being rebuilt (not quick enough) but we have the best young LT in the league,Ungers a vet but not old. The guards will be changed.

The front 7 is a mixture but its not old on the whole

Personally, I don't have a second or third team. I have the Saints and the Saints have been the only team I have had since 1967 and will be the only team I have.

Wow dude, that's pretty nutty.

Listen, I eat, sleep and breathe Saints football all year long. They are one of few things I'm passionate about. But even I know that at the end of the day it's just a game. I want them to win every game they play from here till doomsday, but I understand more and more that I can't let myself be so bothered if they don't. So step back from the ledge, take a breath and chill out. We still don't even know what this year's team is capable of. Way too soon for all the weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Why make a post like this? Why not just leave silently and head to a Colts or Packers board or wherever?

Are you looking for some sympathy or something?

Its old where it matters..........oline. I'm not giving up on Peat. He was never the problem. It has been Lelito but Evans is not the answer to that. If the majority on this board had their way Colston would still be around. They want PT back. This board loves aging players.

I don't know what drugs you smoking but you need an intervention. For one, to say THIS board wants, whatever, is completely wrong. Is there a few, of course. There are always people that live in the past and its the distant past that gets people scared. Obviously you are not a long time fan. If you were you would understand that.

This is a public message board. Everyone has an opinion and can freely type it. Its what the point of this site is. When you deal with the public, you deal with all types of personalities. If whats here is not your cup of tea, carry your ass on out. No one here is gonna be mad or upset or even care for that matter.

Its not far though from being a good line. There are two pieces who are top notch and not creaking at the knees. They are a couple of guards away. Lrts see if something is done. A guard now and one in the offseason snd we are good

Old where it matters? Boy you daft!

The average age on our O-line is a whooping 26,4 with Unger (30) and Strief (32) being the oldest.

I think saying you hate the team is a little unnecessary!

Man, Oaklands haven't made the playoffs since 2002 when they lost the superbowl and still sell out the stadium every single week, they are probably the most loyal fans I've ever seen.

Did I say I was turning on the saints? That was mostly a response to people saying I should join the falcons' forum.

Charity Mike, how often do you even post here anyway? Btw you say we are free to voice our opinions well maybe you should see where I have not been free to voice mine. I'm getting attacked for wanting the oline to be younger, Brees to not hold the team hostage, worried he won't make it until he's 40, accusing them of being selfish(which they have been).

You're right, maybe I do need to leave. Maybe I'll just get my saints information on the score and be done with this damn board if this is the case. I'm not going to feel inferior.

And Guido, you're an ass.

Any youth movement needs a group of older veterans......that's necessary for cohesion. When we let go of all of our vets at once was when problems started a couple of years ago and we've been 7-9 since. And Drew Brees still has value as do the other vets we have sprinkled on this young team.

I agree with you Will. You are entitled to your opinion of your team. We all have the right to our opinion of the Saints and where the franchise is at right now. I'll admit there are some scary uncertainties surrounding our win/loss record this year. But I've been around a long long time and had to sit next to people with paper bags on their heads(Schweggman's I think). I still occasionally host parties on game day where I hand out the roster and If I'm out of town then I'm at a sports bar dressed to represent from head to toe literally which happens regularly. I spend some games alone but I still have my superstitious traditions that I follow religiously.

I became a fan of this team when I moved to Louisiana while the Saints were young....not from their infancy but since '77. I've lived in New Orleans as a young man and still attend training camp regularly and go to as many games as I can make each year. I fly a Saints flag every day and my fiancé won't let me put up anymore Saints memorabilia outside and now I'm limited on additions inside the house.

I grew up on a ranch in Texas and watched the Cowboys with my father religiously until Jerry Jones bought the team and started the current state of affairs in Dallas........so I can understand turning your back on a franchise. Also, I am allowed to have a second team that I like without revoking my Saints fan card.........however people on their second or third team in a few years need to reevaluate their expectations.

Stop with the negativity and see what local reporters and your fellow members think about the possibilities ahead. There are positives to look for in a young growing team that is looking better on defense while offense puts up the points every year.

Try finding a positive to look for and you'll sleep better at night and possibly have more enjoyable conversations on the boards. It's a fact that people with a positive out look live longer and happier lives.

Dude, I have news for you, Ive been a Saints fan longer than you have been alive. Lol @ how often do I post. Dude, I look at this site on a daily basis. I post when I feel like putting my 2 cents out there. I am usually more active during the season. So, I have been reading your ramblings from the day you started posting here. I have never said one thing to you, even though most of what you say, IMO, is nonsense. But that is what sites like this are here for. If you let one person on this site make you feel "inferior", whose fault is that?

I get along with the vast majority that are here, have since day 1 of joining this fine site. So don't take my not posting on every single thread as me not being here. When I have something to say, I say it.

One other tip, if you come here acting like you know everything and what you say is right and everybody else is wrong, your not gonna make many friends here. There is another person on this site that does the same thing and he is not very liked as well. And you may feel like you don't do that but I am telling you, it's the vibe given from your words. So take it or leave it, stay or leave. The rest of us will still be here. :bng:

In 2015 we did this, we went back and tried to restore it with Browner(yeah, I know) and Ellerbe. But it wasn't working enough. We needed a leader in the form of Vilma. We got that in JL.

In similar fashion we brought in Drew Brees and Darren Sharper. You win some you lose some but the young guns need leadership.

Well you have to deal with the hand your are delt. You are trying to win so that means you put the best men you can find out on the field. Doesn't matter if they are 24 or 99.

Some young players don't get better with experience some get shell shocked and fold under the pressure. Its a double edge sword.

I agree there is more I dislike than I like about this team. One if we did in fact start a youth movement then we should have traded away Brees. Start clearing cap space and stock piling picks

53 man roster, and you dislike more than 26 players on the team?

And we started the youth movement 2 years ago. We're one of the youngest teams in the league. (Edit: Defense age)

Actually, we're still one of the older teams. But really, this doesn't mean anything. The Saints average roster age is only a year and a half older than the youngest team in the league. I don't think there's ever been a correlation between the average age of the roster and success in the NFL. And there is only a 2.08 year difference between the youngest team and the oldest. And, keep in mind, even one outlier can have a drastic impact on this list. For example, Drew increases the Saints average age by just over .2 years. Without Drew, the Saints would drop to 19th on the list.

Average age per rosters as of 53 man cut off.

1. Rams - 25
2. Browns - 25.08
3. Packers - 25.36
4. Jaguars - 25.43
5. Broncos - 25.47
6. Chiefs - 25.54

Yeah, I corrected it on another thread. We're one of the youngest defenses, not teams.

Brees, Strief, Finnegan, Laurenaitus, Kuhn and Harper skew the team age up a bit.

And notice the difference between top 5 and bottom 5 is only 1 year? I think its a meaningless stat.

Doing it on the 53 man roster swings things. Loads wint be on the roster year to year

Thomas/Snead/Cooks

Fleener

Armstead

Breaux/Williams/Swann

Vacarro/Bell

Cam Jordan/Rankins

All major first team players all 27 or under. Most 25 or under

I agree, the average age of a team means absolutely nothing when it comes to team success. Age really only comes into play when determining contracts of individual players. The Rams have been the youngest team in the league for 5 years running and they haven't been to the playoffs since 2004.

Willsaints81, did you get this all worked out yet? ;)
