Siding with Kaepernick, 49ers pledge $1 million to fight racial injustice | The Sacramento Bee
That commitment follows Kaepernick’s vow to donate the first $1 million of his 2016 salary, as well as all the money he earns from jersey sales this season, toward similar groups. Kaepernick’s jersey has become the NFL’s most popular after he took a public stance – punctuated by not standing during the national anthem – regarding what he calls oppression of people of color in this country. Yippee, the broken record showed up to the party. Wondered how long it would be before you chimed in with your nonsense.

Re: Lets Have OUR OWN PROTEST
AssylumGuido, I'm not even going as high as NFL Champion. It's the "little" things: Score a touchdown and break into an interpretive dance on the history of "Interpretive Dance". I'm waiting for a wide receiver to score and then break out a 3 act play on the history of his career!
Danno, I hear you! I was 15 when the Saints Training Facility opened two blocks from my house. Back in the day I could hear Bill Kilmer shouting out signals! |
Re: Lets Have OUR OWN PROTEST
Lets do some simple math here, Exiled.
If you're against America. That makes you "Anti-" American. See? Easy. I dont like the current government, either. Maybe these guys should vote Republican, if they want change, seeing as we've been under a Dem president for 8 years. Most every American city has been under Dem. control for 40 years. I love my country. not wild about the incumbents. Doesn't mean Im going to disrespect the Country, and the people who defend it. The fact that I even have to use the words republican & democrat in a football forum proves that these WHINING players are hurting the NFL's product. Therefore, said business has a right to require them to stand respectfully. The Govt. cant require it. A business can. My business does. F*** people who dont like America. They need to leave. See yall in the Terrace tomorrow. Love and Patriotism, How bout some Guns & Jesus with that too? America! |

You can tell things are screwed up when you got SkyMike mixing politics and football

Its really what pisses me off about these whining players. They bring politics into our national pastime, which normally would unite us. Once you do something that makes Bob Costas put on his Smart Glasses, and start preaching to us, you've screwed our Game. If you want to make millions of $$$, just play ball,, and STFU. If you want to do all that social justice crap, join the peace corps. Boycott NFL Merchandise. That will hit em. |

I instantly feel a lack of genuineness when I'm around them. They walk around with these crap eating grins plastered on their faces, they copy everything everyone does, and they love to talk about mindless things. I try to say something thoughtful and they look at me like I'm an old grandpa telling war stories. But if I make a fart joke, then I'm cool. There are very few people younger than me who I genuinely respect. These athletes are just beacons of what young people are turning into. |
Re: Lets Have OUR OWN PROTEST
First of all I would bet money that what Kaperdick did wasn't to make a statement as much as it was to garner attention. That being said him kneeling doesn't bother me. It's his right and as far as I know it's not an action that is not allowed in the business he is in.
Now about all the police officer shootings. I'm tired of the media trying to milk this race thing for all its worth. Thousands of good cops get blamed for the actions of just a few bad apples. And guess what, most not all I have read about have been justified. They all have one thing in common. The person shot by the officer was resisting or inciting. I'm so sick of hearing how society keeps black people down. You really want to tell me a society that has affirmative action, free college education, a welfare system, exclusively black organizations and minority consideration when it comes to bank loans is a society that keeps black people down?? Seems to me that society has bent over backwards to help them achieve. If society is keeping them down its because it gives too much to one race. When you give too much you take away a people's drive and determination to succeed on their own. |
Re: Lets Have OUR OWN PROTEST
Wow. There are a lot of ummm ... " Big Bad Patriots " here.
First I'd like to point out that Kaepernick is protesting the national anthem , not the flag. The difference couldn't be bigger. Francis Scott Key wrote the song when captured by the British , he then proceeded to write a song about freedom while also condemning slaves in the third verse that's often not sung. What a hypocrite. You wouldn't ask a Jewish man to sing a song that has proud roots to Nazi Germany , but this is somehow cool ? And if you're really tired of hearing about black America being oppressed , just imagine how tired they are of being oppressed. The statistics in the judicial system confirm there is a racial bias in America. There are literally so many statistics that support this argument , I highly question the intelligence of anyone who opposeses these numbers. These are well documented facts. Not to mention , The Reagan administration has recently come out and admitted the war on drugs was a deliberate attempt to target black males. Google it if you are skeptical. And I'm more than positive that these NFL players have expirienced some form of oppression due to the color of their skin early in in their lives. Money changes things , but not everything. Lastly , quit telling people who have opinions that differ from your own to " Get out of your county ". The first amendment was put in place to encourage diplomacy and spur Intelligent diolgue so we can become " a more perfect union ". Some of you " Proud American's " couldn't be more anti American in light of whats actually in the constitution. I love America , We have some problems , they won't go away denying they exist. |

This country was built on the backs of slaves that never profited a dime. If Kap doesn't want to stand for a song that glorifies the oppression of his ancestors then I stand behind him for it. You hating him for it makes you the furthest thing from a true American. Land of the free though right ? |

Re: Lets Have OUR OWN PROTEST
Thank You! Reading these posts brings tears to my eyes. Hearing that others feel the same way as I do, makes me feel as though we still have a chance to save our country. If Hillory Clinton becomes president she will finish the job of killing America that Obama has done his best to accomplish. This is why I asked the question that I asked not 3 days ago, wanting to know if any Saints player or coach remained seated or took a knee during the national anthem, and was thrilled to hear that not 1 did. My protest is to not watch any game of any team that disrespects this country by not standing for our national anthem. I'm not saying that we're perfect, but I am saying that anyone fortunate enough to live here, is better off than if they lived in any other country in the world. I too say, we didn't ask you to come here, you asked us to come here and some didn't even ask and came here illegally. It's time for those freeloader America haters to get the eff out and as for the rest, I say this, this is America, this is how we do it, this is how we live. If you don't like it, or can't get with it, you are FREE TO LEAVE!

Re: Lets Have OUR OWN PROTEST
Something i dint think is ever considered is how young the Uas is. Its rise to power as a nation happened incredible quickly. From the outside looking in there does seem to be major issues at certain levels that wont be solved in any short space of time. And while it is in living memory that blacks couldn't vote 50 years ago i think resentment on both sides will live on. All you can do is keep taking small steps in the right direction. I obviously say this as somebody with no stake in either side and as somebody eith no links to the country

Re: Lets Have OUR OWN PROTEST
It seems that regardless of what civilization we're in, at some point, the interests of a Government or ruling body and its citizens go in opposite directions.
At that point, Government's main purpose is to ensure it survives and perpetuate itself. (Doesn't matter, right, or left, they want to perpetuate themselves) Why do you think the traditional GOP was having a meltdown that Trump, an outsider was winning the nomination? He's a disruption. Same when the Democratic convention emails were released about trying to smear Bernie Sanders. The more time we spend arguing with each other, the less time we spend scrutinizing our elected officials. Those with power don't really care one way or another if we argue and throw rocks at each other, as long as we *feel* like we can vote and real issues addressed. They'll swoop in from on high and big daddy government is going to fix it all. How long have we heard the same tired line, "This is the most important election of our lifetime." Yet nothing changes, that was 50 lifetimes ago for crying out loud. Besides a couple of cosmetic political issues, the real issues are kicked further down the road because of their catastrophic threat to disrupt the whole system. As a politician, the more watered down and murky, the better. This insures you don't isolate any particular voting population, which is perfect if you hope to win an election. Eventually the issues that keep getting kicked further down to future generations will be a cancer too far along to treat. It will result in something drastic. But again, diversion is just one effective tactic. Fears of all various kinds are another, from plagues, to threats of terror, to natural disasters, and to financial crisis. If we really want to protest something, it should be this tired propaganda machine that has its fingers in everything we do. I can't piss in my own back yard without a permit these days. |
