I saw a lot of 3 man fronts yesterday yet we still got burned.

After Breaux went down, it was downhill city after that.

That was my first thought also. Out on the wing? not really his strong suit. In the middle of the field as a dime/saftey is better suited. I am waiting on him to make me eat crow. did nothing from what i can remember.

Crab schooled Craw the entire fourth. That tackle up high and got shook of like a rag doll for a first when he had Crab on the side line 5 yards short of a first had me throwing things. THAT IS A STUPIDITY THING I CAN NOT STAND>

U took the words right out of my mouth. That's all they had to do is throw to his replacement and it felt just like last year. Our offense looked good too. This sucks.

There's a reason Crawley went undrafted. If we expected him to help improve our secondary then shame on us.

Bring back CFinnegan & Moore needs to be ready on sunday.
Not the perfect recipe for success but it would be better than Crawley.

this is my assumption like many others have posted their assumptions. i am going off how he played in camp, i know he is a rookie, duh! if you continue to read what i said instead of scanning through (damn its only 2 sentences) i said he is not strong or aggressive enough to be a starter or back up. Maybe he could be coached to be more aggressive

I'd like to see Stephone Anthony line up (MIKE) behind Davison instead of James L. They were giving him the business in the middle. SA is much faster and certainly he has the ability to tackle better.

That's like saying Pierre Thomas couldn't help the team because he went undrafted; how did that work out?

How about Marques Colston, projected to go undrafted; picked in the 7th round... He couldn't start neither; oh wait...

i think we roll with the kids see whst they can do they didnt allow a td till the final 5 min of the game so that is encouraging there is going to be some lumps but i thinj you give them the chance to gain experience

Let me clarify because I didn't mean to make it sound like Crawley is a bad player. I was talking more about the decision makers who thought it was a good idea to shore up our bad secondary with undrafted rookies.

Give him a couple more games experience before writing him off then...

I never wrote him off. I'm just saying that as an undrafted rookie there are certain parts of his game that are not up to par and it will take time to get him coached up. Expecting Crawley and Harris to come in and improve a bad secondary was not realistic.

Mitch,

I think what Chris was getting at is that we can't build a contender out on UDFA's & cast off Vets. You can't build a playoff team at the end of pre season either.

What we should be doing is building a team over 2 to 3 years of careful drafting & free agent signings. All of this is a self reflection on how our staff is doing, and how good a job their staff and what the finished product is.

No one is piling on Crawley here. It all starts at the top (Benson, Loomis) and trickles down from there. If the great DBrees doesn't play lights out yesterday, I think we get blown out (especially late). He continues to cover up a lot out there.

Injuries (Swann, Pruitt, Kyle Wilson, Breaux) certainly don't help either.

|Mitch| 09-12-2016 11:52 AM

Re: Rumor- Delvin Breaux Broken Fibula

Injuries happen; it's next man up... Crawley was forced into a starting spot and wasn't slated to be the #2 or #3 corner this year...

But to say that he can't help the secondary because he went undrafted is ludicrous

Just hoping for the best! I think bringing back Finnegan and getting Sterling Moore up to speed will help. For what it's worth, I have the utmost confidence in PJ Williams so it isn't all doom and gloom!

I think Breaux is brought back and Rankins stays on IR...

He played quite well against Julio Jones and Beckham last year and guess what; he was a undrafted player too...

Hopefully we see more of Moore on Sunday.

A player like Odell Beckham/Victor Cruz could tear up Crawley's confidence.

He'll be back for Arrowhead or Seattle(who may not have Wilson). Everything will be okay.

I see no reason to put him on IR. We currently have 48 running backs on our roster. Wave goodbye to one, bring back Finnegan and Breaux can stay on the active roster. Rankins and Breaux should be ready to come back at about the same time. Drop the extra DB and tada, problem solved.

Who would you cut?

Pretty smart except I wouldn't sign Finnegan, Moore did well against Beckham and Julio Jones last year and is already on the roster...

Whomever they deem least valuable, that's up to them. If it were up to me it would be Murphy.

I'm not suggesting they sign Finnegan to start in Breaux's place, I definitely think that'll be Moore's job. But we probably need another body in the secondary all the same.

out for 6 weeks.

Breaux got abused my Odell Beckham last year

There is pretty much no way our defense will allow less than 30 points vs Giants.

Out of the rb.'s I would cut Cadet. I think between the 2(Breaux and Rankins) coming off the IR list I would have to pick Rankins over Breaux.A better push up front will help the young CB more.

Re: Rumor- Delvin Breaux Broken Fibula

I'm not confident in our corners. No one is apparently. We have well documented the loss of players and being down to two UDFA's to start at corner. Both looked lost and Crawley needs some help tackling. Finnegan may be the best option out there. Our secondary will be tested early and often. Damn the injuries!

Why put Breaux on IR at all? Just keep him inactive, roll with what he have for 6 weeks. Rankins and Breaux should both come back about the same time

I was thinking they would put Breaux on IR since he was injured, with the 1 player designation I was thinking it would be better for Rankins to get that tag to come back. Breaux is a pretty decent CB and if they decide to keep him on the inactive roster instead of IR that would be good. How many weeks before he heals?

Re: Rumor- Delvin Breaux Broken Fibula

Leave Breaux on the active roster....cut Murphy because we have several on the roster who can return punt and kicks. Sign C Finn and move forward.

This is one year that having the early bye week will be beneficial. It gives us a extra week early for these guys to come back.

K Major 09-12-2016 03:27 PM

Re: Rumor- Delvin Breaux Broken Fibula

For whatever reason, I don't think Finnegan is coming back to NO.

Maybe they are content with Sterling Moore going forward.

Papa Voodoo 09-12-2016 04:39 PM

Re: Rumor- Delvin Breaux Broken Fibula

Didn't we move Dixon to the PS? We still have corners that can compete. No pass rush and it won't matter who we have back there. We just need to find a way to win next week. I wouldn't base the flow of the game this year on the game last year. Could be a 17-14 game for all we know.

Clearly we don't want and can't afford to have Delvin out. But in that span where he was out they were running through our line like it was a wet paper bag. Guys were open all over the field once that started. You could see the defense just got completely lost.

Maybe Delvin makes just enough difference that we manage to win that game. But I don't think we'd be sitting here talking about a great defensive performance. They broke down everywhere.
