I am not as disappointed now

Because look at the giants, seahawks, chargers, and chiefs. Seattle especially putting up 12 points at home against Miami. Giants looked sloppy against Dallas. Chargers lost Allen now again, and KC needed that injury to be able to even come back and win. These teams are all coming up, so I believe we have chances to beat these teams who are worse offensively than Oakland.

We were up 14 points on them at one point. Defense played well for a half. We were not able to get a sack or any turnovers but had we played a offense below their level we get those. None of the teams coming up are the offense we just played. We can win the next three or at least go into the bye 2-2.

Re: I am not as disappointed now

Someone's got to lose. We had our chances. Let's not forget, we owned the Raiders for the most part. That won't show up on the W/L column, but I thought we did well for being so inexperienced. We'll only get better. And we can still win the division, that wasn't even an NFC team.

Re: I am not as disappointed now

Sorry, but if you are waiting to play a different offense so our defense can play better that's laughable.

Oak offense is okay, not great, and our defense looked just like it did last year, no pressure, no sacks, no turnovers, bad penalties at the wrong times, busted coverages and gave up a big lead.

Your not disappointed because a few other teams lost? I'll say I don't give a **** about other teams, we just lost a game in the same fashion we have for the last two years and to top it off it was at home.

Re: I am not as disappointed now

We played better D than last year, come on. That's a good team. Cam Jordan's a pro bowler and he didn't SNIFF Carr, so he sucks? If we were going to have a hiccup, it may as well been against a non-conference opponent early. I don't think we should tear down the dome yet

I love cam, best player on our D but you do realize that he was going against the 2nd and 3rd stringer? Yet he still wasn't effective.

Again, we are the worst D in the league, stats don't lie. I can't try to be positive about this team when it's the same **** year after year...

Bill Johnson and Vitt ... coaching hasn't been stellar on that side of the ball either.

Re: I am not as disappointed now

Giving up 22 4th quarter points is disappointing no matter how you look at it.
These guys have some pride. I think this will not sit well, at least I hope not.
If they play the last quarter like the 1st 3 quarters we win by 2 touchdowns.
Yea I know, "If IF was a sciff..."
That was not their intent and I think they will learn from it.
The front 7 has to step it up. When that happens everything changes.
If it never happens, we will just have to keep out scoring teams with 30's and 40's
and hope for the best.

Re: I am not as disappointed now

So Brees goes for 424 passing yards and four touchdowns and we lose.
Defense gives up points like an open door, does it look familiar.
Kinda makes you wonder about those who wanted to let Drew walk.
Shades of Archie Manning from days gone by.

As disappointed as I am and especially was last night rember these points;

2011 giants got killed by us and then won the superbowl
Patriots couple seasons back got slaughtered by the chiefs and then made it to the superbowl that same season

We had rookies with no NFL starting experience.
Disappointing but not the end of the world.

If Payton understood clock management, we walk away with a W yesterday.

If you watched some of the games yesterday, having or not having 1-2 timeouts for the end of the game made all the difference in at least half the games. We lost because we didn't have a timeout at the end. So did the Cowboys. Lions won because they had theirs. Cardinals could have got the ball in a lot closer and probably won if they had theirs.

I really don't care in the third or early fourth quarter if we have too many men on the field or can't get the play in in time, just take the penalty and keep the timeouts. With the accuracy Brees showed yesterday, 5 yards doesn't scare me much.

Re: I am not as disappointed now

The Giants, Seahawks and Chiefs won!!!!! I'll take an ugly win every day. Especially over a gut wrenching, mistake filled, collapse at home. Yes, there was a lot of positives. Brees, Cooks, Snead, Thomas and Ingram all looked great. The OLine with Evans is solid. PJ Williams looked good. Robertson was solid in place of Ellerbe. Vaccaro was flying around. But, there was ZERO pressure on the QB against a less than stellar, injury depleted OLine. Payton's horrible misuse of timeouts. An UDFA in Crawley who clearly isn't NFL ready. Cutting Finnegan, who could have been a difference maker yesterday, while keeping six RB's on a passing team is horrible roster management. It's like everybody pointing to last years 7-9 record and thinking the team was close. They were 5-9 after getting blown out in games that could have mattered, before beating two teams playing out the string. I'm hopeful that they can atleast put a band aid on the CB spot and Kruger can make a little difference. It's only one game and the offense is absolutely for real. But, I won't be shocked at a less than .500 season again.

A CB is going to have to be brought if if that is a broken fibula. He will be lucky to be back before week 8-9 and the team is going to have a tough decisions wether to IR him and put Rankins out all year or just keep him on the roster unfit

CheramieIII 09-12-2016 07:57 AM

Re: I am not as disappointed now

I still believe we are better on defense but need some depth and a solid pass rusher or 2. I hope it was just first game syndrome for Cam and Kruger

Re: I am not as disappointed now

We need a couple of CBs.
One injury leaving you with a red shirt rookie and 2 UDFA on the starting roster is pretty much inexcusable at this level

+1 Lee,
I honestly believe we have the worst roster depth in the NFL.
In actual games, we are clearly outmatched.

nobodys talking about it so i will, you can't tell me those refs didn't change the outcome of that game, sorry if i'm a whiney b-otch but watched the game with legit fans and we all thought them botched calls changed every effort of 106 players of both teams, and we landed with the game final outcome. the big L. Waited 3 years to get a home opener to let the zebs blow crap on tv.

Re: I am not as disappointed now

The refs were bad, they have been in all the preseason games i watched too BUT IMO they were just as bad for both teams. The difference was the flags on the Saints came at a critical point late

Let the excuses flow.
Another year of mediocrity under Sean Payton is what we're looking at.

Wasn't able to catch this game and I'm pretty happy with that now.

There's 31 other teams you are welcome to go cheer for; maybe you might be happy to go catch their games...

I don't think the D got better, they just fooled us in the first half and showed their true colours in the second.

I really like our receivers, just get rid of Coby Fleener, I'm already sick of him.

We played better in the first half when Breaux was in the game. After that our corners were under attack.

Fleener looks lazy. He looked lazy to me in TC. His routes don't get separation and his blocking is worse than Jimmy Graham's horrible blocking.

Agreed. With the lead we had going into the fourth quarter, and we are still 70-30 passing to running? That's just ignorant. Sean Payton needs to get it through his feeble mind that when we are ahead like that we need to RUN THE BALL MORE! It doesn't matter if you're not too successful at first, it eats up time and wears out their defense so that when we need to pass it's easier because they are more tired and not looking for it as much. When we came out at halftime we should have started working on our run game and eating time off the clock. And better yet, it would have kept our weak link (The Defense) off the field and much fresher. I'm really, really, really tired of saying this and watching SP blow games by not running more in games like this, so, I'm not gonna say it or comment on it anymore.x(

no, feel free to say it as much as you like.

I sorta agree with you, but sorta disagree also. The one thing we do right is
pass, and sometimes, we suck at running. So, if we make first downs, we win, no matter how we get them. Two points yesterday, where if we had made first downs, we would have won.

Knock that crap off. The great thing about this site has always been that fans have been able to have different opinions about the team and we have all been discussing it as adults. Seems lately that a lot of people only wanna see and hear their own version of the "truth" and that is disturbing.

Of course members of this forum are annoyed, I am too, nothing wrong with voicing their displeasure for a team which has proven it has learned nothing from the past two seasons.

Re: I am not as disappointed now

its all about holding a lead, what happen to bend but dont break, it takes time off the clock, our superbowl year were like that, then in 11 we had another superbowl in the grasp in frisco but we begain to break and its been broken ever since. 3rd and forever and its like cream on cake for all against us.
