NE wins with a second string QB , 2 guys missing on OL and no Gronk at TE, and we think we have a team ? And they played a playoff team ? and we are going 15-1 hmm
any idea what we would do with no Brees the same game? |

Re: so
Next man up approach. Solid depth from top to bottom and arguably the best X's and O's head coach in the game.
Great system and a solid coaching staff. Business as usual up there. |
Re: so
Crossing T's, dotting i's and just getting it done.
Making plays and taking care of the ball. I can't remember an occasion when NE looked like the keystone cops: Guys bumping heads while someone scampers for 75 yards, or allowing teams to convert on 3rd and 17. It just doesn't happen in NE. They don't seem to lose, they get beat. We don't get beat, we lose. |

Second, no one believes the Saints defense is fixed, but IMO it is a helluva lot better than the Chinese fire drill we had last year. Third, once again injuries are devastating the defense. Fourth, for the most part I thought our O-line played fairly well today. Finally, I am not going to write off the season after the first regular season game; that would be like someone claiming the Saints were going to the Super Bowl after they went 4-0 in the pre-season. |
Re: so
That is an organization built to win.
The saints leadership doesn't know how to effectively build a team like that. Once this team puts focus on the defense they'll be good, but that will likely happen too late for Brees. |

Payton needs to switch to a longer lasting gum

Re: so
Without Brees question- 424 passing yards and four touchdowns.
No, what in the Lords name would we be doing out there. We did however make Del Rio look like Coach Of The Year today. |

Re: so
It's also funny how NE can make a sucessful conversion of their D. Some years they run a 3-4, some years they run a 4-3. Belichick dictates this transition with great success. He hires the coaching staff and does his homework to fit whatever scheme and players serves him best with either scheme. He has great success in trading players, replacing players, getting rid of aging players and drafting players. The guys like a wizzard at building D's to compliment his offense.

Re: so
Its ok saying injuries but no team will be injury free and we are a rookie DT down(albiet a 1st rounder) and now a CB. Its inexcusable that we are left with a 2nd year first game rookie and 2 UDFA as the only cover. They may prove good enough but there is a reason 31 CBs were chosen before them in the draft.

Re: so
Also add on that the Pats are without Ninkovic

Re: so
I see what you're saying Pher, but I don't wanna think about it. NE is a strong team. Great defense and offense. Our problem, as it has been since 2014, is an absolutely terrible defense. I think we'll be better this year, but some adjustments have to be made.

Re: so
The Patriots played with great passion last night. I'm not sure if it was 9/11 or missing Brady, but they played with great fire, especially Edelman.
It's impressive when players wash out with other teams - such as Blount, Chung, Sheard - and they become cornerstones for the Pats. They would get an amazing game out of Laurinitis, whereas we only coach him to be a stopgap. That is the difference. |

Re: so
Hate to admit it but Belichick is a smart Coach probably one of the best in the league. It appears that SP has great respect for him.
