Saints flag unfurler is fine, just a little 'turf elbow' after her tumble
During the Saints season opener, the field was flooded with red, white and blue as volunteers unfurled a gargantuan and heavy American flag.
For many, it was a moving and poignant display of patriotism, perhaps even more so on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. The NOLA.com video of the flag unfurling was shared from company Facebook pages over 1,800 times. But those who were looking closely may have noticed something had gone awry in the first few seconds. "Am I the only person who noticed someone tripped and fell under the flag???" asked Angela Portera on the New Orleans Saints on NOLA.com Facebook page. Why, yes, a woman did stumble and fall under the massive flag. That woman was Dawn Cripps of Gulfport, Miss., and she replied on the Facebook thread that she was not injured, except for a little "turf burn" on her elbow. But don't worry, Cripps is in good spirits and has a sense of humor about her fall. read more |
