Room for Optimism.....oh yeah
We are 21st against the run and would be 4th against the run if we take away that 75 yard run by the Raiders.
We are 10th in total offense and will get better. We wouldn't have lost either game without all of the injuries in our secondary. It changes everything in the game. Our defense has done a great job considering. When you look at the numbers it doesn't give you the entire picture. We've lost 2 games by a total of 4 points, 4 points, we're talking about 4 points. 2 pass interference calls on the Raiders last drive, secondary injuries and the FG miss killed us. The field goal miss, secondary injuries and the fumble killed us. Now we know what we have to do so let's get it done Payton. WE NEED VETS IN THE SECONDARY NOW! GET TO TRADIN! Everyone hop back on the bandwagon and get this s**t started! |
Re: Room for Optimism.....oh yeah
Whilst you're correct, it's the same every year. We have made a habit of losing by close margins or with seconds to go.
Let's hope with players coming back we can make some kind of run. |
Re: Room for Optimism.....oh yeah
I don't blame the loss on Breaux, Swann or PJ being injured. Getting people back will not help us. Lighting a fire under our own ass and realizing that scoring 0 points off 3 Giants turnovers is unacceptable will.
On the positive side, our defensive line looked a lot better than last year, definitely did not get gashed between the tackles like last year. |

My farts don't really smell that bad. I get that it's not great but it's butt air come on.

Re: Room for Optimism.....oh yeah
The above posts sum up my thinking and I'm OK with the direction of things compared to the last few seasons.
I'm a glass half full kind of person in general, but 0-2 really doesn't feel so bad when I consider the effort and promise of our young doodz. SUNSHINE is still pumping in my veins. A loss to the Hated Atlantiens would really suck though. But, I'm confident that I will feel wonderful after we beat the brakes off of those fools next week! |

Definitely room and reason for optimism. I'm still beating the drum for the defense. Most of them are greener than the turf they're playing on, but I believe they have some fight in them this year. If...and it's a big if...they can learn from their mistakes and grow, watch out.

Re: Room for Optimism.....oh yeah
We are only 1 game back in the division and I've seen some real potential with this team. Far too early to start discounting this team. Everything I've seen this season has been a move in a positive direction from last year, even though we are 0-2. The wins will start coming when everything clicks together.

Re: Room for Optimism.....oh yeah
No one mentions that the Saints defense did not allow an offensive TD against the Giants Sunday.

Here's hoping both units show up next Monday. While we're at it, let's make sure that the special teams only has to see the field on kickoffs. Go for 2 everytime lol. |

When I played you literally want to walk over to the offencive bench and scream "How long are we suppose to hold get some damn points !" Huge weakness on this team is SP, and Im not seeing a winning spirit in the locker room. Even Brees looked almost like he didnt know what to do anymore or losing faith in the presser after the game. That has me concerned. |

I'm positive I love the Saints. Beyond that, I'm positive I'm just trying to be positive.

Re: Room for Optimism.....oh yeah
I still feel like we can turn this thing around and I'm along for the ride from start to finish.

Re: Room for Optimism.....oh yeah
If the locker room can stay together and use it as fuel, then it'll pay dividends later.
I'd rather a young team have some adversity and see that they can overcome it, than deal with adversity later, and not know how to deal with it. Mid-Late season is when you gotta string them together for the push. There are teams notorious for starting slow and getting hot later, which then carries through to the post season. |
