Hey does anyone think we need to get rid of Bowman and get another legitimate backup that might actually have a shot at winning a game. BTW Shaun King just got released from AZ he might be a decent possibility with some local ties.

welcome avenger. i think ya could find a majority around here for a new #2. i\'m not a king fan myself and thinkl local ties shouldnt be a major factor in any personnel decisions. i haven\'t heard one wimper about mike mcmahon out there. he would be a great choice imo. anybody consider the laws of probability concerning brooks like i do? we couldn\'t be surprised if he had some major injury that would keep him out a substantial amount of time.

I do but I\'m not sure King is the answer. There are many threads pertaining to this on the board. Welcome to you.

Just a thought he does have some skins on the walls and he is a heady player maybe some could rub off on AB

If the Saints sign a veteran QB it will likely be after June 1st cuts are made. I can\'t see Tim Couch as an option. JT O\'Sullivan probably should have been the #2 QB last year. Knowing the Saints history, if a QB is drafted, it will be on day two of the draft. O\'Sullivan and Marc Bulger were both late round guys.

A persnnel friend likes a kid named Brian Wrobel from Winona State. He is a name to keep an eye on a possible FA after the draft. Says he has better tools than Jason White(Oklahoma). I have yet to see extensive film of him, but they seem to like him a lot, but only as an undrafted/developmental player.

I myself would like to get Bryan Randall from VT, bc I am from Virginia and he is a really good QB. All he needs to do is actually BE a leader, and he would do fine. I think he could be backup now and in a few years be #1.

I couldn\'t disagree with you more. Bryan Randall is an undersized QB who is a better runner in the open field than a QB who can happen to run when things break down. He had a very solid career at VT, but facts are facts. He\'s undersized, lacks NFL arm strength, and doesn\'t have the leadership qualities QB\'s must have to succeed at the next level. No thanks on Randall as a possible backup here or anywhere else. Arena League maybe ;)

I think everyone would agree that we should have never let JT go. He should as previously mentioned the 2nd string QB last year and for sure this year. We should get him back and solve the problem without having to spend alot of money doing it.

cheram i love ur idea. i dont think we can do it but it would be the best idea. it would be a real solution. the guy seems like he can play given time. either way i like bouman to go. i would have signed warner over the guy or garcia. i hope we get someone in the draft. btu as far as king how many chances does he need

That\'s the same thing they said about Ken Dorsey CanLoomis ;)

This is what Shaun King has proven to us throughout his years in the league --> :eck05:

With that said, I would love to bring a guy like Gus Frerotte in there. The guy should be starting period. I would love to have O\'Sullivan back here, we all know that! But the Saints always seems to manage to draft a solid qb in the later rounds of the draft so I wouldn\'t be too concerned. Bouman is serviceable for the time being.

Although he might be off the board before we are ready to invest a pick in a backup QB, I would love to see AD McPherson drafted. First, being the die hard Seminoles fan that I am, I would love to see him in Black and Gold. Also, he comes in the mold of Aaron Brooks except with even better athleticism and a stronger arm. Indeed, his past transgression provide a big question mark to him, but I think he would be a great backup and even the successor to Brooks should the Saints eventually want to go that route. But his name is flying up draft boards and I dont think investing a high pick in a backup QB should be a priority. Anyone have Jeff Blakes number? They could always get him to return.

Brad Johnson just got released -- I thik he would make a good backup -- And I happen to like Shawn King --

I like King. I watched him a Tulane, and he was impressive. He\'s not a game-breaker by any means. But he is a guy, IMO, who with a supporting cast, can distribute the ball well, take what is given to him, and be successful in the NFL. I wouldn\'t mind seeing him as insurance. He\'s a better option right now then Bouman.

Sorry shadow, but I did get a good laugh out of this. Couch had a rag arm in college and he has a rag arm in the NFL. I don\'t think I have ever seen him throw a deep ball. And he is not mobile. But if you mean as a back-up, as long as he is cheap. I think he has zero chance of getting the starting job.

McPherson is all the athlete AB is, and he seems to be smarter(which isn\'t saying much). Problem with AB is he is reluctant to scramble anymore. He had the most success in his first year when he was running all over the place. Now he wants to prove himself as a \"pocket passer\", which hasn\'t produced stellar results.

I think overall we should find someone with strong character. Someone who will not be discouraged by the transparent politics that is the QB situation in New Orleans. Tim Couch is definitely NOT that. That guy cried because the fans in Clevland booed him. What will he do if he comes here. The New Orleans fans have boos ready in their back pockets.

I like king myself. I don\'t think we need a back up QB at this point. Spending money on a Back up qb and taking a cap hit for cutting someone and still having to pay money out to them... Kingsbury is a sleeper in development. I see him edging Bouman out at number 2.

Oh Tim Couch has a bit of an arm. I remember him getting his first pro win against....(gasp)THE SAINTS!!!! He threw a Hail Mary pass about 45-50 yards in the last few seconds and got the TD.

He\'s weak minded though....I think the thought the NFL was going to be easy and handed to him like life at Kentucky was.

If we\'re going to spend a late round pick to get somebody, I say we get McCown.

couch and heath schuler both had million dollar arms and two cent heads...whcih is why they were sullivans..notice the correlation?

How about we burn a 6th round pick on a promising youngster who\'s already familiar with our system.

J.T. O\'Sullivan.
