Are Saints losing because of us
1 Attachment(s)
Do we as fans have a responability for the player culture and not supporting Brees as we did before ?
In 2009 a ton of youtude videos and songs came out to support the guys. I noticed in 2010 that was not happening anymore. Remember Do you think we are at fault in some way by not creating the belief environment that we know Brees thrives on? Did we mess up ? We dont show up at the airport that much anymore. Are we as fans a problem and not supporting the team as we used to ? Song wise and youtube its a 100% yes in my book. But what do you think ? We know the guys watch our stuff. Are we lazy ? |
Re: Are Saints losing because of us
I think they're not doing well because they can't cover/rush the passer most of the time.

Re: Are Saints losing because of us
I've been a Saints fan since birth (1972). The Who Dat song is the main one I remember. A lot of people came out of the wood work when the Saints were on the road to the SuperBowl. If the fans had a real stake in our "Support" of the team, The Dome Patrol would have won at least 2 SuperBowls. IMO, if the team isn't playing like professionals because the fans aren't singing songs and what not, then we have a bigger problem than we thought.

Re: Are Saints losing because of us
Hell no... That's absurd. They can't even win at home anymore but the Dome is still packed.

Re: Are Saints losing because of us
Players don't give a flying **** about what fans do. As long as they have fans attending games and pulling for them they are fine. Sticks and stones scenario

Re: Are Saints losing because of us
It's a great thread and question.
I think after we won Superbowl 44, Saints fans pined for a second ring. 2011 was the year that wasn't meant to be. 2009 was simply put - a bandwagon haul for Saints fans. Undefeated and the way we played was unreal and almost magical. That team is arguably one of the best teams in NFL history. When you reach those heights it's hard to replicate the magic. |
Re: Are Saints losing because of us
The feeling and emotions of the '09 season will never be replicated. From '67 to '08; the only thing we could do is pray and wonder if we would EVER make it to the SuperBowl. 3/4 of the way through '09, we could taste it. It was on everyone's mind. Even to people who weren't Saints fans.
So has the flame died? No. We did like any child would do when he/she taste that first piece of candy. We want MORE! We went from being able to be satisfied with 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 seasons to; "9-7? NINE AND FREAKIN SEVEN!?!?! JEEBUS WE SUCK!!!!!!!". The flame hasn't died. It's a full blown forest fire, burning out of control. It's burned so far out of control that we can't see through the smoke. I include myself in that. |
Re: Are Saints losing because of us
All we need to start it up again is the Interception by Wash then the strip to return it for a TD play to happen again. I think that was a spark that anything could happen and that the ball and football Gods were finally looking at us.
Then Beating the Patriots.. I don't think at that point there was much doubt that we were on a SB run the rest of the year. |
Re: Are Saints losing because of us
Now that Rob Ryan is gone we can't blame him anymore.
So yes it's all us Who Dats fault. |
Re: Are Saints losing because of us
You can't get the stuffy season ticket holders in the middle on their feet except to go to the Clubhouse for food. Last time I sat down there I swore to never do so again. I got told to sit down and stop screaming.
Now I sit up top. |

Started really cool pre-game because many of the Saintsations that walked about schlepping calendars recognized my daughter as a standout from a cheer/dance camp... Many of the Saints 'Club patrons' became annoyed with the Saintsations congregation about my girl even though it was pre-game & not during the game... Then, once the game got started, we got cranked up on some big plays but the rest of that Club section quickly gave us the big judgmental church ladies 'shhooosh'... Totally ruined it for me as it was my girl's first game in the Dome... So blame Saints Marketing because the traditional Saints fans are segregated to the rafters of the Dome... |
Re: Are Saints losing because of us
I clearly feel that everything is Dannos fault!

Re: Are Saints losing because of us
The team is made of professionals who get paid a lot to play a game they love. Waning fan support should only concern them if they're worried about a job for not tackling, catching or fumbling the ball!

I can tell you with certainty that a cabal of "blue bloods", old farts, and perfect people occupy that space. When I went to the preseason game this year I laughed because some of the same people were sitting in the same seats - just 25 or 30 years later. Alaska is right, because I know, we own real estate down in the lower deck. It can be NO FUN whatsoever. I've had season tickets of my own throughout the dome and by far lower terrace (and I mean LOWER) in the end zone was the most fun I ever had as a Saints fan. |

In reality we can do very little to either help or hurt. Showing up on gameday and being loud is the biggest factor. |

Re: Are Saints losing because of us
I have noticed a lack of support since 09 in fan support, coverage of the team by reporters as well as fans at the training camp practices and the noise levels at the dome. Back in the day and I mean since day 1 of the Saints, our stadiums used to ROCK! We were known as the loudest stadium and fans in the league. We used to get penalized when I was a season ticket holder for being too loud. Now, it seems that we have a lot of fans that rag on others as not being true fans etc. but at the games, our current fans get taken out of the game rather easily and that's even when we get a lead and now we've been surpassed by Seattle?? How can an outdoor stadium be louder than an enclosed Dome? I do think our team notices this. Do we still turn out in the thousands after a game like we did back in 09? No. Do we still turn out in the thousands after a road game win or lose like we did? No but these new fans are better than the old fans. Yeah right..

Re: Are Saints losing because of us
No, seriously, we lost the Raider game because of me.
I switched gris gris while we were ahead by 2 scores. Soon as I went to the can, they scored immediately. Maybe the players should put bags on their heads, in protest of our poor performance. Lets beat the hell out of the Panthers. |
Re: Are Saints losing because of us
That's how Sean shows his disdain for LSU. He lets the game get this close to winning and then.........
|
Re: Are Saints losing because of us
I pulled this one out for us.
changed gris gris in the 2nd Half.... we were on the way to a loss, but I snatched victory for us.... just so yall know WHODAT |
