Building for future success
I think one of the main issues as to why our D has struggled is because we are missing just one or two players from the D line.
I think our main priorties in the coming seasons should be Re-sign Nick Fairley, at the minute he's our best D lineman Continue to throw David Onyemata in for experience Find a dominant Right End Edibali, Gwacham and Kruger are at best stop gaps or rotational players Imagine how our D line would look if we drafted someone like Myles Garrett; Cam Jordan, Sheldon Rankins/ Onyemata / Fairley, Myles Garrett We would be set for years and could finally win at the point of attack, which so far, we haven't had a ton of success doing! We need to build at the point of attack, like it or not, the game is won in the trenches. The fact that Obum Gwacham was our starting DE speaks volumes as to how weak the depth we have really is. |

Front 7 and O-line in 2017.
Anything else is just gonna piss everyone off. Maybe a QB... maybe if an Aaron Rodgers type falls. |
Re: Building for future success
I'm thinking that's a pretty nice line ya got going there Dizz with the hopeful development of Onyemata.Hopefully Nick changes his up and down career and stays committed to knocking roadblocks out of his way while causing havoc into the opposing teams backfield putting Qb's on the fkn ground and in traction.Still missing that piece to lighten the heat Cam faces week in/week out.
I know Coach came into the season saying we Needed consistent pressure upfront to tie everything together. I truly believe we'll go all-in opposite Cam first round and hopefully Ireland scores big! All in all,I just hope Coach don't catch the "Mad-Hatter Disease"and keeps this thing moving in the right direction! Slap DA in the back the head everytime he calls in this soft zone **** and keep em' in man until we iron this thing out. WHO-DAT! |

Re: Building for future success
I am still watching Peat. If the move to ROT is not going to happen in 2017 I have to put RT as priority top FA signing.
Draft looks deep at OG, very deep as a matter of fact. Many OT will be moving to OG at the pro level IMO. Getting a solid shot at a starter might be had as deep as 4? maybe round 5? DE look pretty good early. After that it tappers off but holds pretty good. FA SDE might be on the list DT? Or NT? looks thin in the draft. Run stuffer FA might be on the list. Nice thing about FA as run stuffer, SDE and ROT is they are cheaper to sign than the glamor players. Might be able to add all three with pocket change left over. CB and S are looking pretty good in the draft |

Stop trading up / giving away picks.

Also it sounds easy but few teams are good at it... Pick a system, stick to it, and acquire players that specifically fit what you want to do like the Patriots and Steelers do. |

Re: Building for future success
Peat looks like a first round miss. He's a LT who needs work on his pro game. We have to get in another RT as well as two guards. Besides that the O-line looks pretty good.

Re: Building for future success
One site has us taking Kizer from ND. After yesterday's lose to NC State he'll be lucky to get picked in the 2nd. Foster from Clemson will be the 1st QB off the board and we won't be close to getting him. We need to take a left tackle with our 1st pick, trade up into the 1st again for the best DE and in the second the best CB available. We need to trade for Trevor Seiman from the Broncos. Paxton Lynch will be the starter there next year. Trevor has done great the 1st 4 games of the season and with at least a year or 2 under Drew he will be a killer for years to come.
We will probably draft middle of the road again. We have all of our picks except round 5 that we traded to the Redskins. If we draft a QB it will be: Round 2 Chad Kelly. Ole Miss Round 3 or 4 Mitch Trubisky, North Carolina Luke Falk, Washington State Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State Davis Webb, California Round 3 or 4, 6 and 7 should all be on defensive players and I vote CB's. |
