The Graham-Unger Trade
1 Attachment(s)
So some time has elapsed and players are starting to settle in to their roles...
A year ago it seemed clearly the Saints definitely were the big winners as C Max Unger was holding together the Saints' interior offensive line and Clemson LB Stephone Anthony stepped into the MIKE Linebacker and was leading the team and league rookies in tackles... Seattle fans had breakfast cereal with images of Jimmy Graham on their milk cartons; and the Seahawks packaged that Saints' fourth round pick (112th) with their 2015 third, fifth and sixth round selections (95th, 167th, & 181st) to get Washington's No. 69 pick and select Kansas State WR Tyler Lockett, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie kicking game returner... Now, Unger is playing well for the Saints while Stephone Anthony has regressed with injury and not fitting in to Dennis Allen's proforma defensive scheme; and the Coach Allen seems unlikely (or incapable) of amending his scheme to feature the former first round pick... In Seattle, Lockett has also been dealing with injuries and has been limited to only a few long passing plays that is the signature play of running quarterback Russell Wilson; however, Jimmy Graham has found his "sea" legs and has quietly started to return to form in the run-first Seattle offense... What a difference a year in the NFL makes... Other thoughts on the trade... |
Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
Hard to believe he cant amend a scheme that has given up on average 30+ points per game

Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
The Saints should be charged for grand theft auto for that trade. Stephone will be fine.

Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
If DA can't get the Saints first round draft pick on the field and continues to put out a crappy defense he won't last another year.

Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
He's not a 4-3 LB.

Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
This guy is really calling it out...

Wow...

Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
Text? Does no one talk to one another during adverse events any longer?

Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
We won the game and the trade! We are 10 points away from being 6-1. We are allowing 116 yards per game rushing and if you take out the 75 yard run the first game and the fact that we only allowed 74 yards rushing today we are way better against the run this year and even better from the start of this season. We are 6th in fewest penalties, we are 6th in points scored, we are 2nd in total YPG, we are even in giveaways/takeaways, we've only lost 3 fumbles, only 5 interceptions, Brees is 4th in QB rating, we are 49% on 3rd downs and only 1 game out by the end of the day. Things are looking up fellas!

Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
Jimmy?!? Jimmy?!? You mad, bro?!?

Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
After watching this video, I'd say we got the better end of the deal...
Now to get Stephone Anthony back as our starting Mike... |

Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
how many games has Jimmy missed since the trade? case closed.
used abused and traded. the way it is meant to be |
Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
Unger alone made the trade worthwhile; he's been better than expected...
That said, we lose some in the trade if we don't get Stephone Anthony back, healthy, starting and playing like a first round pick... Dennis Allen and the coaching staff still fails if they don't get this situation with Anthony turned around... |
Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
All the smoke is still clearing.
These things are never really settled. Jimmy wanted BIG money, and had to go. He earned the right to ask for it. Our TE play hasn't been the same since he's been gone. And to kick him for being out for injury is just something none of these guys can control. Unger has definitely been a plus. I still have a hard time buying into a "player" that can't play 4-3/3-4. As poorly as we tackle and get gashed on cut-backs, it's amazing. Players can just play. Tacklers can just tackle. Hitters can just hit. Good feet can just avoid all the ground clutter and get to the football. Anthony is a player. You can't teach speed and a nose for the ball. There has to be something else there. |

38, 27 (including a pick-6), 20 (including a scoop and score for 6) The defense hasn't given up more than 20 points in the last two games. The tanker seems to be turning in the right direction. Hopefully playing SF will accelerate the pace of progress. SFIAH |

And we do have good players starting at cornerback, but these guys are castoffs of other teams; and they're not helped by a pedestrian pass rush... But the mis-tackles, missed coverage assignments, exchanges (specifically J Byrd), ball awareness are players still thinking, watching rather than playing with instincts, reacting - and we're still giving up big plays, late in games... |

Either way, the Saints need to reign in Dennis Allen and/or get a position coach who gets Stephone Anthony back on the field and at the Mike, leading this team, producing, making plays... |
Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
The last few weeks have definitely been a improvment and hopefully Moore/Breaux and Rankins can add to that in the coming weeks. Still along way to go to be in the mix come the end of the season. The only thing disappointing about the ladt few weeks has been the inability to punch it in in the redzone at times. Got away with it so far in the whole but must be improved.
Too many turnovers, drops and muffed punts) |
Re: The Graham-Unger Trade
Get Stephone Anthony back starting at the MIKE playing like a first rounder and this trade is a slam-dunk win for the Saints...
