New Perspective

Starting to get healthy and we have a new lease on life. With 9 games to go we are one game out of the WC and 2 out of the division. If we get healthy, 10-6 is not impossible.

What I am worried about this week is a huge let down heading to San Fran because we played so good against the hags.

I don't care how we do it, but we have to win this week.

It's a winnable game.

I'm kinda glad its in SF. That lessens the possibility of a let down.

I take nothing for granted. Is the kind of game we could crap the bed for. Wouldn't be the first time. Harkens back to a browns team in the dome a while back.

Put them away early and it is less likely

I'll be there...

How about Will Lutz!! Might have actually found a kicker. May be the best FA signing we have had in years. I take that back, most of the defensive signings paid off this year except JL.

Re: New Perspective

I still can't buy into the D. Seattle isn't the same O upfront and Lynch is gone, not the same team as previous years. San Diego had a meltdown in the 4th quarter with helped us or we're 2-5. The schedule don't get any easier. I don't see us getting on a roll either. The O is capable of scoring high pionts( Carolina game) but to think we score 40 ppg each and every game I don't see it happening. 5-11 to 6-10 I'm still sticking with.

I understand where you're coming from. I am looking at the D the last two weeks and they have let up 20 points and 13 points respectively and less than 400 yards both times. Now you're right, that was against two offenses that are not tops in the league (if memory serves me right). In the past we would let up 500 yards to anyone, Eagles game last season when their O was struggling hard.

That said, I understand where you're coming from and I understand the wait and see approach. I know at the end of the day you're not going to be upset if we do well, you're just offering an honest assessment!

Re: New Perspective

The 49ers are pretty terrible. That much we know. But it's a road game, and the Saints just don't play well on the road under any circumstances. They only manage to win on the road against really bad teams, when they win them at all, and even in those games I don't remember off hand the last time I came away feeling good about the performance.

So I don't take this game for granted, and hopefully the team won't. I'm really hoping to see them get fired up and ready to finally shake the road woes off.

Re: New Perspective

The defense has looked better, maybe the competition, maybe not.
Frisco is looking to bounce back and salivating because they see us coming.
They have loss 6 in a row and coming off a bye week with the home crowd.
Once again, if we hold them to 20, we win.
They have averaged about 20, and are giving up 30.
If we can't get out of there with this victory, it would be very telling.
I don't think we would have any trouble putting up 30, my concern is holding
them to their average 20.

Re: New Perspective

Defense is only going to get better.
Rankins
DB40
Moore
All should be back this week. That's yugeee. Still need to see how the injuries effect their performance but signs are pointing in the right direction, just might be to little to late.

One thing I do know. Saints are great at getting back to 4-4. The problem is continuing to perform after that.

Re: New Perspective

Philly, MN & GB suddenly don't appear to be world beaters as analyst thought. ATL is still very suspect on defense too.

I like our chances second half of the season.

12-4. I'd rather come on late than early.

Re: New Perspective

Have to roll with Hightower. Use Ingram like the Pats use James White. Hightower is also a better blocker. A lot better. If we go that route I could see things starting to change. I love watching how the Pats use Blount and White. Power and agility, really keeps teams guessing and both players have to be accounted for at all times.

I am hosting a large party after our Battleship rugby tournament and for a change The Saints are playing the late game. I'll be grilling while the boys are playing......Sweet! Rugby in the morning and Saints football in the afternoon with 40-60 close rugby friends. I'm feeling blessed win or lose......hopefully we win.

Re: New Perspective

I hope we win too, I am just so darn scared of a let down. I am with Burning, can't take anything for granted. Best idea is to put them down early. coming out of their bye they'll be feeling good. Get them down early and put it away they will likely quit. The longer any team hangs around the worse it is

Re: New Perspective

From the 2 games I've seen of the 49ers this year, their run defense is really bad. HT and/or Ingram could have a 100+ yard day.

If we don't turn the ball over, execute on offense & "create pressure" on D, I like our chances to beat this team by at least two touchdowns.

This is the type game the Saints of late find a way to lose. Let's hope they show up.
