Dannell Ellerbe among three Saints listed as out against the 49ers
 

New Orleans Saints*linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (quad) will not play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Saints officially designated *Ellerbe, linebacker James Laurinaitis (quad) and running back Daniel Lasco (hamstring) as out for Week 9.*

"Not Surprised" is not the phrase I'd use. Mord like "annoyed." He misses the entire first half of the season. Comes in for 13 plays, then can't go thr next week. Jesus, cut him. Who cares about the dead money? He will play the same number of snaps if he's cut. Zero.

Literally doing nothing for us, it's a shame because he's a great player when healthy, he's just a waste of a roster spot now.

He's on borrowed time.

It costs us nothing to keep him because his contract is already guaranteed for 2016. But his roster spot may be needed eventually.

Keep him until we absolutely need his roster spot for someone. Then its adios injurito amigo!!!

When a team is this patient with a player it usually correlates with his talent/play.

He had 1/3 the snaps of Stupar and had 1 less tackle. Granted Stupar had an amazing INT but he nearly surpassed him in far less snaps. Shows how he finds the ball. The immediate hit on Jimmy Dickens over the middle, the snuff of the RB headed to the sidelines are all plays only he makes. Stupar/Anthony are usually left to push the RB out of bounds in coverage of those routes. Ellerbe has them wrapped before they get to the corner. The guy is really good when he's on the field. Says a lot about the WLB position in Dennis Allen's scheme.

But yes, it completely sucks he can't stay healthy and on the field.

Never heard a thing about him having any sort of issue after the game, and suddenly he's out again. How bad can it be? Can he play through anything?

As others have said, he's clearly a very good player when he's out there, but man... There's being unlucky, and there is just being pitifully fragile.
