Rankins activated, Laurinaitus to IR

Saints activated DT Sheldon Rankins from injured reserve.
Rankins has been practicing the last few weeks and is fully healthy. The No. 12 overall pick, he should make an immediate impact on the defensive line. Rankins upgrades a pass rush that's near the bottom of the league in sacks (10).

The Saints placed MLB James Laurinaitis (quad) on IR in a corresponding move.

Saints want that roster spot. It wouldn't surprise me to see him released soon. IR, then comes a possible injury settlement.

So I guess we're gonna be in the market for a new starting MLB in the offseason huh? Laurinaitis will most likely be gone and with Ellerbe's inevitable release I have to think Robertson would be a better fit on the weak side.

Good news on Rankins but one reason we got Lauraniris is because he has NEVER missed a game. Signing with the saints is a curse for defensive FA.

I guess we had to list "quad" since "old" and "sucking" aren't allowable IR designations :)
