And here we go
4-4. Does history repeat itself or will there be a new occurrence?

What the **** are you referring to?

Re: And here we go
We're going 5-4 this time. We need to balance the run & pass, and keep Brees clean.

Re: And here we go
Um, look at the seasons where we clawed our way back to .500 and what happened afterward almost everytime(except 2008, which was back and forth).
We are 4-4 and face the same situation we faced before. We face a tough matchup that could make or break our season. When we fall to one game below instead of getting above, the following games happen @Houston 10-23 @Atlanta 13-23(5 ints from Brees) Cincinatti 10-27 @Washington 44-14 This has been the game that has always made or broke us. Carolina is actually not more important than this game because if we lose this game, we're gonna lose confidence on three days rest at Carolina. I hope not but if we lose to Denver our history tells the story. |
Re: And here we go
I get what Will is saying, that during the Payton era, the Saints have been at this crossroads before and it'll be interesting to see if we can have a different outcome...
And despite his usual porcupine-ish response, Danno is completely right in so far as this is a different season with some slightly different characters and that the Saints can't allow previous dives, melt-downs to affect what happens against the Broncos... One game at a time, and right now it's the defending champs... We've got to do to Denver what they've done in past games to us - pound that ball right down their f*cking throats... Even though I've got Brees and Cooks on my fantasy team, I'd rather the Saints take away the Broncos strength of pass rushing and pound those edge-defenders with the Heavy Package of Peat, Strief (and maybe, possibly Armstead); just beat-down those Bronco edge-defenders who won't have their best DEs to protect them... |

To have any chance this year or in the future? We have to be able to run the ball. Any team's WRs will get mugged in the postseason. Success in the NFL is not defined by how great a QB is. |
Re: And here we go
Sadly, the Saints crumbled last year when they had games with the season in the balance. I do know this team is better despite the injuries than last year though. But, I just wouldn't be shocked if they go 0-2 in the next two. Having the Broncos at home is BIG. The Panthers playing the tough Chiefs is BIG. With a good showing and win today, the sky is the limit in the NFC for this team this year.

'15 our offense took more than half the season to start going. Yes there were games they did well, but this offense is far better. Our wideouts might be the best we have ever had. Cooks and Thomas are real stars. Add in Mr. 3rd down and we have a really good group of wideouts. I don't know we are going to win today, really don't. But in my opinion this team is better than the '14 and '15 team. |

I was looking back at '15 and in our first 5 or 6 games we only scored 20 or more points twice and it was like 20 and 22 or something. I cant remember exactly, was looking at it a bit ago. We need the win today because this is the prime time to get this team., |
Re: And here we go
Know what is frustrating, record of the teams we lost to
7-2 6-2 6-3 5-3 The shame is that all but one of those were winnable. So we have certainly been competitive. The Broncos are more beatable than the Seahawks, but we need that type of effort to beat them because of their D. I feel like there are a lot of similarities. |

Giants - Ken Crawley in perfect position, if he knocks down or intercepts the pass we win. Raiders - blew a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter Chiefs - offense failed to show up, driving for the tying score and we fumble, Brees threw a pick 6 also. All very winnable games, 2 out of 3 of those were decided by one play. Let's hope if we get faced with it again, we make those plays. |
Re: And here we go
Our team has matured over the past 4 weeks. It looks like Payton knows that he can't take his foot off the gas pedal because even 3 td leads aren't safe, and our D is making plays when it counts the most. The big difference this year from '14 and last year is that we have a running game to keep the opposing defense honest.

Re: And here we go
Pressure the QB and knock him down every chance you get and I agree with the run, run, run but you know Payton.

Well... I was wrong. But the refs did screw us at the end. Bad review. The refs have decided quite a few nfk games this year.

Re: And here we go
Yeah he scuffed the white line, Refs wanted to go home no overtime.

Re: And here we go
Being a referee is a tough job in rugby. We only have one referee on the field and the game is still being called cleaner than the NFL. But if I could go back and review plays I'd never make a bad call. How can they not see him step out or see them hold down the centers head?

Re: And here we go
Bigger games get more cameras. I never have been able to accept this. It's the NFL. There should never be an angle they don't have.
