Normally I wouldn't support the idea of changing a coach midseason but in this case, I really don't think it would hurt much.

Two losses directly attributable to short field goal attempts in the same manner?

One, okay, sh*t happens, but two? In the same season?

That one loss means everything right now...Payton has got to look in the mirror, man up, and relieve McMahon of his duties...

These Pollyanna back of the charts results in the kicking game are unacceptable - especially surprising as Sean Payton is from the Parcells coaching tree...

The Titans fired him in early October (right after the Texans gashed em on long punt return & subsequent loss). So my guess is that he is sitting back on the couch.

When the conversion kick was blocked I blamed McMahon immediately. I later found out that Denver is just well coached on special teams. Everything they did was legal. I know a lot of folks will disagree but after watching the play several more times and listening to Blandino(sp?) explain the rules it became apparent that we just got taken to the shed by a good coach. It was a well designed play and it was legal technically. I'm not happy about it but "it is what it is." Poor coaching has become what the fans expect from a McMahon coached unit.

Our special teams keeps making stupid mistakes like this year after year. We have nothing but ineptitude and what appears to be the keystone cops out there in black and gold. McMahon has to go! :argue:

Payton is a complete wuss, won't dare fire his friends but makes people like Gregg Williams the scape goat.

It's funny how quickly Payton fires guys like GW, Spags or even Rob Ryan, but when it's one of his personal friends he will cover for him!

Are you talking about the Panthers and Broncos? Because, as Audiotom mentioned in the other thread, this happened against the Giants as well. Their only TD of the game came on a blocked Field Goal.

And that was early enough in the season that it shouldn't still be happening. It should be getting better, not worse.

McMahon. I wouldn't let him coach my nephew's pee wee team. Outcoached every game. Teams know to kickoff short since we seem to never get past the 20. If Lutz don't kick it through the end zone they'll get it between the 30-40 yard line.

Oh, then there's the blocks.

We officially have the absolute worst Special Teams unit in the NFL...possibly NCAA.

Correct. A lot of folks thought Gary Gibbs was "Mr. Untouchable" a few years back.

McMahon will be fired at the end of the season.

It would be nice to see an occasional touchdown scored on punts and kickoffs, deep returns, even a blocked punt would look good.

I new when we started the first drive at the seventeen yard line that we were in trouble. Bad field position from special teams is now expected. One good return in three weeks isn't doing it. Bad decisions because of bad coaching helped us lose again.
