Saints Self-Sabotage Again
1 Attachment(s)
The Saints special teams haven't been anything but special the past two weeks. Last week against the Broncos, a blocked PAT to put the team ahead for a probably win turned into two points for the Broncos and a Saints loss. This week, another blocked field goal setup a touchdown for the mistake prone Saints.
On a much better note, the Saints Defense has improved every week this season led by DT's Nick Fairley and Cam Jordan. The Saints offense was error prone early and simply ran out of time. Panthers 23, Saints 20 Blocked kick woes |
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Loser football. Nothing else needs to be said. Keep giving up turnovers and this is what happens. We spotted them 10 points and again we find a way to be the worst special teams unit in football.
|
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
32nd ranked special teams on display.
|
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Turnovers + Disgraceful special teams play, and the term "special" should not be used by the New Orleans Saints at all.
|
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Is it sad that after the Broncos loss I said to myself "What if against the Panthers we get another field goal blocked" Like It was almost inevitable back to back GAME CHANGING FIELD GOAL BLOCKS...smh that's the season right there IDC what ANYBODY SAYS didn't catch the game live watching the recording now....The Saints are a ? in my book it's No telling what you are going to get from them week to week how do you lose the same way ON BACK TO BACK WEEKS ? Special Teams coach has to go these 2 games were CRUCIAL to a playoff spot and we dropped the ball TWICE
|
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again

Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again

No words can describe the agony of this loss.
|
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Don't worry guys... Sean Payton is still our head coach, he'll keep stroking his ego and get another 5000 yard season for Brees. Oh, you wanted to win games... sorry not on the agenda.
Let's go draft another TE or WR in the 1st or 2nd round. |

SHOCK!!!!!!

Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Missing post season play (again) will suck.
|
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Loss to Oakland with scrub corners on a 2 point conversion. Loss to Denver on a blocked kick where the ref stood behind the defensive lineman that pushed the snapper to the ground by his head and the returner was OOB. Last night's kick was on Lutz for not getting the ball up. The team has fought through major adversity and is improving.
|
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Also, Lutz is still a young kicker and will get better as time goes on. The potential is definitely there, he just needs some refining. Get Morten Andersen in to give him some extra coaching.
Geaux Saints. |

Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Saints 7-3
7 points to Giants on a field goal block return for a td D kept NY out of the endzone Broncos meltdown game winning pa Panther field goal block Why hasn't this been corrected the first time it happened? Fire the coordinator Go for it on 4th and goal within the 5 At least you aren't giving up points |
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Does Tom Dempsey have a grandson? If you guys and gals couldn't already tell I am very upset today. The Saints are finding ways to lose every week and it's not funny anymore. Payton needs to right the ship now. Does anyone else think he's becoming soft on coaches and players?

Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
The game has obviously outgrown these old coaches like McMahon and Vitt. We need a fresh new energy in house. I think Ireland has done wonders for this defense.
They need to eject all these cronies with young replacements with passion, coaching skill and a plan to succeed. Loomis better have his men looking for the best replacements right now so when the axe drops we have their qualified replacement. Bill Johnson may have earned an extra year with Onyemata and Davison earning valuable and impactful snaps. I was calling for his head last year. Fairley, Rankins, Onyemata, Davison and Jordan are a great team on the D-line at getting pressure. Payton may keep Johnson around even though a lot of people were calling for his head earlier. My biggest fear is that Payton will think the rest of his cronies can turn things around too if he sticks with them long enough and gives them some talent to work with. He is well known for his loyalty to people in his organization. I'll give him that. But I won't give him a pass if he doesn't fire McMahon. |

We're losing two more games. It would be the first time in our franchise history we swept a conference division if we beat both LA and Arizona. Also, we can't go 4-2 in division. |
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
And after today, we are at the bottom of division.
|
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Off point a little but it seems like a few ex saints player are doing pretty well now.
Rafael Bush has multiple ints and ran one back today Malcolm Jenkins has multiple ints and pick 6's Casillas (wasnt a fan) is part of a great NY D We are missing someone like Darren Sproles very badly Rob Ryans D allowed 12 points today... |
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
McMahon isn't going anywhere. He is a Yes Man stooge extraordinaire. Include Vitt with that. We might as well accept that special teams will continue to suck and and drafted linebackers will not be developed.
Never draft a linebacker with Vitt, go for 2 after TDs & never kick a FG on 4th down, in other words. |
Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Welcome back Barry from MS!

Re: Saints Self-Sabotage Again
Losses like those( blocked kicks) reminded me of the old Saints teams, coaches were not allowed the type of players we have today or the money to get them. I could see why the old teams played poorly but with the bankroll Benson puts out on todays team he should have top notch coaches at every position. I can't remember when our special teams or our D was feared, it seems like forever.
