New Orleans Saints starting left tackle Terron Armstead admits to being frustrated.

Armstead has been dealing with a knee injury suffered in Week 2 and the ailment has caused him to miss five games, including the past two contests.

"I want nothing more than to be on the field battling with my guys each and every day in practice, game, everything," said Armstead, who adds he will deal with the injury the rest of the season. "So, it's definitely frustrating."

While Armstead returned to practice Wednesday, it remains unclear if he will play Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Saints are likely to continue evaluating Armstead in the coming days, but Armstead indicated his availability will depend on his physical well-being.

"I'm just trying to get feeling the best I can possibly feel for the game," he said, "and if I'm able to go, I'll give it my all, 100 percent."

With Armstead out of the lineup, the Saints have relied on Andrus Peat at left tackle and Senio Kelemete at left guard.

Peat has been a steady contributor in place of Armstead, but what could assist Armstead in getting back on the field surrounds the extended time since the Saints last played in Week 11.

The Thursday night game against the Carolina Panthers afforded the Saints extra days of rest before returning to practice, and 10 days will elapse from the previous game.

Armstead believed the additional time could prove beneficial.

"I think it helped being able to stay off what I'm dealing with," he said. "It's more time, more rest and more rehab, strengthening, just a lot of different things we've been trying to do. So, the time really helped."

Sounds like he's a candidate for off-season knee surgery (said Armstead, who adds he will deal with the injury the rest of the season...) and if that's the case, put him on ice and trade him and that contract in the off-season for an edge defender, linebacker or a couple of draft picks...
