Bandwagon Fans
During the first quarter while on chat and the game day thread I saw a ton of people wanting to cash it in. "Our defense sucks" "fire Payton" "play calling is vanilla " etc.
There is one member here who shall remain nameless that stated in all seriousness that he is becoming an official Rams fan because he moved there. Funny how by the end of the game all the same people were singing playoffs. You have to stand by your team through good times and bad. They are getting better and we finally have the personnel on defense to win games. They may be young but we are going to go nowhere but up. |
Re: Bandwagon Fans
I'm into FF now. In my defense though I have Snead and Thomas starting. They kicked butt today for me! I won my game this week big time.
I deserve it after paying for CJ Spiller. Guy killed my season. I paid good money for that ass pimple. |
Re: Bandwagon Fans
Playoff, really I believe were getting better. We beat a bad team. One game at a time. On to next week.

High
Per Bowl E It's the internet. Some folks are more prone to outrageous statements about changing their team allegiance because they are high strung. I wouldn't characterize them as bandwagon fans. I also wouldn't call myself more of a fan than they are. We are all Saints fans or we wouldn't care enough to be here. |

It was a very good win against a team that we should have won, doesnt change the fact we are 5-6 and have to win out to even have a chance of sniffing the playoffs. We have thrown away any momentum we had, finding ways to lose to teams that we should beat. If wanting coaching changes is the sign of a bandwagon fan then I must be one. |
Re: Bandwagon Fans
Our defense did sux. there is no way around it. Not accepting the fact that DA had a bad hand dealt to him and kept pulling trash cards alone the way.
Now the deck has flipped and some cards are falling his way and he can see ways to make this hand work. Offense was all new faces to get use too. A reshuffle of the OL with so so depth to work with. Now that is a dead horse that is really starting to stink up the place. 10-6 baby I have not given up yet. |

Re: Bandwagon Fans
its funny to hear people say they are tired of 7-9. We use to be tired of 4-10

Re: Bandwagon Fans
2nd half adjustments are really proving to me that Dennis Allen is a good coach/coordinator Kenny V is playing lights out ! I'd like to see him stick around... You could tell Payton was out for blood against Greg Williams and his defense I wish he had that fire against ever defense we play ! Good win !

Re: Bandwagon Fans
lol
Guys, Ill just end the suspense, guess what? I am the nameless Rams fan... :) Born and raised in LA and ill support the local team. That being said, ill always bleed black and gold. Performance yesterday was great, but that's the Saints. Up one week and down the next, looking forward to seeing some consistency. |

Re: Bandwagon Fans
I don't celebrate mediocrity. Show me the wins, week-by-week, and I'll have a reason to celebrate. Sean Payton has shown NO passion, unless there's vendetta like you see with his wanting to beat Greg Williams. Would love to see him more passionate every week.
Run at the Super Bowl? Let's take a run at the Division some day and a Super Bowl may happen again. But, he's "got his"... |
Re: Bandwagon Fans
It's not possible to go back to being a 4 win team because there's too much parity now and saints were a 4 win tam then became they were not an expansion team and it took a long time to do something and since then the only downward period they really had in terms of those four win seasons was the last year of Mora and the Ditka days in the mid-late 90s.
And if people were seriously upset over the losing seasons in those early days, it's not like the falcons were doing anything either or the bucs. It took time to be good because they were starting from scratch. |
Re: Bandwagon Fans
And honestly I didn't say I would be a rams fan but if we had lost this game it would have black eye on our organization. We may short sold our team's ability but the coaches and team hasn't given us reason not to be skeptical after losing to teams last year like the texans and scoring a measly FG in the first half at home against Detroit. We had a right to be concerned. Good QBs do not lose at home to the rams(I'm not counting Wilson here because division rival). That's the bottom line. And our defense has not ever been that bad where we would allow points to a offense like that. The most those teams are gonna score is 21 points, which is what the texans scored last year against us.

Re: Bandwagon Fans
Ya know, you'd think people would learn their lesson about trying to predict playoffs and telling other fans how dumb they are, or unfaithful they are.
Because every time a thread like this very one pops up, the Saints find a way to lose in some unimaginable way. Lay your opinions out, win or lose. That's all I ever do. I never stop being a fan, no matter what. If anyone wants to quit being a fan, let'em. But waffling back and forth from saying we stink, to saying we're a playoff contender and anyone who doubted that is a bandwagoner, makes one look like quite the hypocrite. I'm personally done forecasting anything. I said 7 to 10 wins before the season, and I'll just stick with that. I have no idea from one week to the next which team will show up. Yesterday was fun. |
Re: Bandwagon Fans
we have the makings of a good team, i expect us to make a really good push next year

Re: Bandwagon Fans
What pisses me off is seeing the fire inside Payton playing against 3G. Where the hell was that fire the first 10 games? Where was it last year? Either be a coach and leader all year long or go find another job.

13-3 was my original prediction......now 7-9 to 8-8 would be a dream come true.
Next year baby!:bng: |

So we should be content losing? Who cares what record the saints use to have. I use to crap my pants but stopped that 2 weeks ago. No way I'll settle for 4 years of 7-9 or 5-11. |

Re: Bandwagon Fans
I'm not happy with 7-9 either, but I'm also not sure that the blame could be slapped solely upon Payton. Those records were based completely upon poor defense, shaky special teams and a slew of injuries. While some of this can be attributed to coaching choices in the past, it does not detract from the fact that the Saints have had the best offense in the league for the past decade.
Personally, I really like the direction the defense is going under Dennis Allen and there are still quite a few key pieces missing due to injury. It reminds me of the old saying about throwing the baby out with the bath water. Sean Payton is perhaps the best thing that has happened to the Saints from a coaching perspective in the last 50 years. It is quite possible that those 7-9 records would have been 4-12 with ANY available head coach in the same position AND I like the Saints chances moving forward FAR more with Payton at the helm than any other unknown. Another old saying ... watch out what you wish for, you may get it. |
Re: Bandwagon Fans
If you had told me going into the season that we'd lose our top 5 CB's, arguably our top outside LB, our best TE, and our 1st round draft pick who was counted on to push the pocket, and our all-pro LT missing 1/2 the games, I would have predicted 6 wins max.
We didn't just suffer a few injuries, we suffered an extraordinary amount of injuries. |
