Re: Source: Brandin Cooks frustrated with his role on offense

Saints coach Sean Payton said he is "not concerned" with WR Brandin Cooks becoming frustrated with his role in the offense. He said it was "a little unusual" to have a game where Cooks had zero targets, but the first play of the game was actually a shot play designed for Cooks that didn't work out, and they will keep working for opportunities to get him touches. "He's a fantastic player and a good man, and we have a great relationship," Payton said. "He's been explosive this season, he's certainly a primary target for us with what we do, and I think that's evident."

Fantasy Football players with him on their rosters I know were fuming. I have Thomas and Snead so I was laughing the whole game.

Cooks is a good speed guy, but sucks in the open field.

Cooks isn't going to get the extra yards and make a few miss after the catch, that's why I love MT. MT will break tackles and look for more yards, same with Snead.

MT>Cooks.
Cooks could be good trade bait if the right deal came along.

I think it is amusing how often the subject of trading players comes up here in the forum. Regular season trades are extremely rare in the NFL with usually no more than about six or seven in a full season and almost all of those are simply for draft picks. Player for player trades are far more scarce.

I am not looking to trade Cooks, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about a mid-season trade, because the deadline has already passed. If we could trade Graham for Unger and a 1st rounder, then I wouldn't laugh at the notion that trading Cooks is at least a possibility, if I were you.

I don't see it happening, but stranger things have clearly been done.

As long as Cooks is still on that rookie contract it would take a miracle for him to be traded. Right?

I don't know about miracle. It just all depends on if something came up where there was an opportunity to make an upgrade in an area of greater need. You'd like to think they can do that without trading him, though. It is unlikely, for sure.

We did trade Ricky Williams while he was on his rookie contract, after all. There have been others, though less notable.

I don't want to see him traded. He is probably a big reason why Thomas is doing so well. Now if he starts being a locker room cancer or something, that's one thing.

IMO, IF, and that's IF he is actually pissed off about not getting any targets then he needs to be given time to see the light. If it was just a miscue on the media's part or him making a mistake and saying something on social media he shouldn't have, there's no way I'd trade him.

Re: Source: Brandin Cooks frustrated with his role on offense

Cooks did a fine job of keeping the number one corner and a safety busy. Payton said the first play was designed to go to him. That tells me they wanted Cooks double teamed the entire game. Let him run a slant next week Payton and send him deep a lot.

We kicked Williams arse. we can involve Cooks and not just be looking for big plays and high scores from the rest 0f the team not drawing double coverage..
