One of the best 5-6 team I have witnessed

New Orleans Saints (5-6)

Schedule so far:
Week 1 - vs. Raiders - Lost, 34-35
Week 2 - at Giants - Lost, 13-16
Week 3 - vs. Falcons - Lost, 32-45
Week 4 - at Chargers, Won, 35-34
Week 6 - vs. Panthers, Won, 41-38
Week 7 - at Chiefs, Lost, 21-27
Week 8 - vs. Seahawks, Won, 25-20
Week 9 - at 49ers - Won, 41-23
Week 10 - vs. Broncos - Lost, 23-25
Week 11 - at Panthers - Lost, 20-23
Week 12 - vs. Rams - Won, 49-21

Just when I thought the saints could not find new ways to loss they yet again surprised me.

Considering all the defense has gone through with injuries and the shuffling of new faces on offense, not bad not bad at all

Plenty of good would of, could of, should of's to hang ones hat on.

Season still has a lot left to it, Saints can still make a run at it. No matter what happens for the rest of this year, the expectations for 2017 has to be nothing less than Super Bowl contention.

Lot of positives to carry into next year.

Few new players on defense and we could be very solid.

I have a sneaky feeling this wasn't meant to be a feel good thread.

LMAO Boutte I am an old timer and have seen it all with the saints. I know a bad 5-6 team when I see it. This is not one of them. This is a team that is pulling together each and every week.

Yes this has been painful yet a very rewarding experience at the same time. I feel better about the depth we have now than I have in a long time.

Kinda reminds of when SP brought in Scott Fugita and the gang way back when.

I have a shopping list and a sharp knife for cuts still. But at least it is trimming the fat vs slaughtering the whole dam cow.

Keep that D line in tack (re sign Fairley), a wicked pass rusher and add another speedy linebacker.

We are an average team. A sane mind can predict 8-8. Look at the fact that we could have lost 7 out of 12 games.

Sure we have the ability to be 8-4 and we could win out.

I agree with hagan. Cup half full. Get rid of ST coach, add another speed rusher, athletic guard, and a tougher TE i.e Shockey and we're golden.

I was going to say maybe a corner but then I remembered how good PJ Williams was playing before he got hurt.

Devin Breaux, P.J. Williams, and Damian Swann all staying healthy would have been a different story for us.

We've got an excellent stable of cornerbacks and at least three rising safeties (Vacarro, Bell and Harris); may need another free safety (free agency, third day pick) at worst...

On defense we need defensive ends and linebackers...

Then there's the guard position...

There are a few contracts up for some D players but I would add another DT to my list. I would add a CB. I got to see whats up with Anthony, I feel for that kid but another lb is needed purely for depth at the least .Right now Payton has his toys which the O is clicking but a G should be addressed and Strief needs to groom his guy at RT. I'm glad Strief has played well, he's been a rock there and whoever takes his spot I hope is as good and steady.

LOSS. But I agree. All of those games could have gone either way. We can stand toe to toe with any team in the league. Still though, playoffs are determined by games won, not how well a team plays. There are no points for playing close. If we had all our guys healthy we would be great.
Have we seen Breaux yet?

Swann and Armstead are guys I'm really concerned about long term (repeated injuries).

biggest issue with CB is size. that and concussions. two go hand in hand?

I think if we are focusing on DBs we will continue to suck as a defense... That is what we have always done.

We need to get bigger, faster and meaner in the front 7. Let's start getting some pressure on the QB and you'll see our DBs shine.

Absolutely!

Even Jairus Byrd hasn't looked completely awful since the D line has started to improve!

Reminds me of the 08 team. I'm really feeling good about this team for the 1st time since 2013.

Outside of re signing Nick Fairley, I hope the Saints FO target a legit pass rusher either FA and/or 2017 draft as first priority.
