Saints, Lions set up for another nail-biting clash with postseason implications on line
 

Week 13's contest between the New Orleans Saints (5-6) and Detroit Lions (7-4) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome might not be for the squeamish observers.

The Lions are the first team in NFL history to have each of their first 11 games decided by seven points or fewer, while the Saints have been involved in eight games decided by seven points or fewer in 2016.

Additionally, 13 previous contests in the all-time series between the Saints and Lions have been decided by eight points or less.

Close matchups, for sure, but the Saints have plenty of motivation to want Sunday's game more when considering their current position in the playoff landscape with five games to play.

"I think this team right now feels like its back is against the wall," right tackle Zach Strief said. "We don't have any room for error.

"Maybe for this team, that is what we need is to be in that situation. That is something that is not going to go away any time soon or throughout the season. We're in a win-or-go-home mentality."
