NFL.com - Saints have 6th best O-line in NFL
Just imagine if Armstead wasn't hurt and we had added a couple of stud guards (not that hard to find)

Not without Drew Brees we don't.

One could also say that Drew has benefitted greatly from a superior O-line his entire career here

Our O Line has done much better than I thought they would. Strief has been excellent.

That said, you can definitely make that argument back when Drew had (IMO) the best interior line on football with Jahri-Goodwin-Nicks in front of him. Stinchcomb wasn't half bad either. Probably the best o-line in Saints history, no offense meant to Dombrowsky-Hilgenberg-Edelman-Brock. |
Re: NFL.com - Saints have 6th best O-line in NFL
Drew has been his best pass protection with quick reads and releases...
It sure be nice to us get some youth at the guards; Andrus Peat seems to be able to play every non-guard position BUT Right Tackle... Terron Armstead sure has had a difficult time staying healthy; he's missed nearly half of his playing time since becoming a starter... Sixth and we don't have nearly the investment Dallas has made on the offensive line, not bad... |

Why didn't we get those stud guards this year?

oline has been way better than expected. if armistead was healthy we would be really good. him and peat on that side dominate. strief returned to form. we don't need as much help as originally thought.
Drew helps out a lot, especially given the injuries. |
Re: NFL.com - Saints have 6th best O-line in NFL
After seeing this group in the preseason, I would have never predicted they would rate this high. Fortunately, Peat found a home and things stabilized even with the top lineman out most of the year. I think going into next year the concern has to be on the right side, and that is only due to age. At this point why not consider moving Armstead if it becomes necessary? I am not at all implying Peat is better than Armstead at LT, but we know Peat cannot play on the right side if injuries occur.
