NFL announces 2017 Pro Bowl Rosters

And Drew Brees' name is no where to be found...

Drew Brees
  • Passes Completed - 419 (1st)
  • Passing Yardage - 4559 (1st)
  • Passing TDs - 34 (1st)
  • Passing Yds/Gm 325.6 (1st)
  • Passer Rating 103.0 (4th)
Note:: 1st Ryan - 114.8; 2nd Brady - 109.7; 3rd Prescott - 103.2

Until mid-season, saddled with the leagues worst defense (better now with relative health)

Most experienced WR is Cooks in his third season, then Snead in his second season; Thomas is a rookie.

Horrible TE in Fleener - Payton can coach ;em, just can't pick 'em.

Starting LT on IR, played less than three total games.

Right Tackle only player to start and play nearly entire season at his position...

Quite simply, Brees is the Rodney Dangerfield of the NFL...

In fact, NO Saints made the ProBowl Roster for a second straight year!

He got blanked when he threw 6 picks in two games to knock the team out of playoff contention. You're not pro-bowl material if you do that.

Also the Saints lost 2 their only games in prime time, and in both those games they fell behind and trailed almost the entire time....if that's what people see, how else do you expect them to vote?

They played the two easiest divisions in football. They won on the road against us.

That's the thing. People are calling Ryan a MVP. Sadly Drew doesn't badly want to be the best qb in the division, he just wants the team to win. He let Atlanta steal our thunder when we tried to hold them off for years. They won the battle.

But seriously after his displays against the lions and bucs, he does not deserve a pro bowl. Oline issues or not, the lions loss was especially embarrassing.

Their record(Oakland) gets them talked about. Does not matter how talented you are the more you win the more you're liked.

Re: NFL announces 2017 Pro Bowl Rosters

I love Drew as much as the next guy but he really doesn't deserve a Pro Bowl this year. He got a lot of yards this year throwing the ball when the team is behind on the scoreboard -- I wouldn't go so far as to say it's what people call "garbage time," but playing the game from behind is a real thing. There have been quite a few games the last couple of years where the Saints have basically lost the coin toss, gone down 7-0 with 8:00 or so left in the first quarter, and then trailed on the scoreboard or been tied the entire time, playing catch-up, never once having the lead. The numbers may be big as they always are for Drew, but there's really nothing there to show for it. The yards pile up but it's like empty calories or a sugar high. Because they're behind on the scoreboard so much of the time. Meanwhile a guy like Matt Ryan or Dak Prescott maybe doesn't have the pinball machine-type numbers like Drew does, but he runs the offense, makes plays, puts together drives and scores, gets the lead, manages the tempo of the game, and then closes out and gets the team the win. Right now Drew Brees 2016 version only does #1 and #2 on that list, and part of #3.

In a league where everybody and their grandma posts big passing stats, the wins are the deciding factor in which QB's make the Pro Bowl. I can't say I would argue with that arrangement.

Team needs to strive for excellence again, we have settled into mediocrity with no Pro Bowl selections. I hate the Pro Bowl game but the selection still means something.

I can.

Yards aren't the only stat either. A lot of people still seem to think passing for 5k isn't a big deal. Circle back to the 1st time Brees did it ... Pro Bowl and Offensive Player of the Year. Saints currently rank #16 in rushing ... yes rushing, so numbers aren't all that inflated because this is a pass first team. In saying that, Brees has more than just yards stat. As JP eluded to earlier, he is top five in completions, td's, passer rating % & possibly top 8 in every other statistical category the NFL keeps for QB's. According to NFL stats, he is 6 TD's away from being the only player in NFL history to pass for 40 td's in a season three (3) times. These are historically significant performances and he is doing them in a single season.

Pro Bowl selections aren't about wins either (see Browns Pro Bowler) & the NFC division leader Detroit have 0. Circle back to last years Death star (Cowgirls) had 4 Pro Bowlers yet they won fewer games that we did :whatever:.

Back in the 90's (when I actually watched the Pro Bowl), great players were recognized on under performing teams but still acknowledged for their greatness. The point of the game is to recognize players who've produced great individual performances throughout the entirety of the season in the ultimate team sport. Sure he had a couple of poor games, however some on this board (Will Saints in particular) who think Drew doesn't deserve to be in this Pro Bowl discussion is pretty short sighted.

My point ... Pro Bowl selections are a joke now & I'm still pi$$ed that the great Marques Colston was also snubbed.

End rant :argue:.

Happy Holiday's to all :bng:.

Brees was voted in the pro-bowl in 2006(starter), 2008(runner-up), 2009(starter or runner-up can't remember), 2010(runner-up), 2011(runner-up).

Well Colston was never a 15 TD a year receiver was he? Julio, Jennings, Dez have been that or at least major flashy stats where they can take a lot of deep plays. Tell me what spread the ball offense's receivers have made the probowl? Has Julian Edelman made the probowl? Colston was overshadowed a few years by Graham on this team and that could have affected him. However, also in 09 often Brees would throw to Meachem a lot of the time especially late in the season.

The truth hurts but what kind of head coach makes their qb wait on offensive help just because a olinemen was not the BPA? Payton is just as much the reason Brees isn't in the probowl.
