The New Orleans Saints were looking forward to seeing what cornerback P.J. Williams could contribute in his second NFL season.

After missing his rookie year with a hamstring injury, Williams earned a starting job in training camp, but his opportunity didn't last long. In Week 2, Williams suffered what coach Sean Payton called "one of the more severe concussions" he's seen, and the Saints placed the cornerback on injured reserve.

Recently, Williams has been in the locker room more frequently during the portion open to media. He was even playing Ping Pong with his teammates Wednesday, just looking like one of the guys.

"I'm all good. Ready to go next year," Williams said before declining a further interview.

Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said Williams took about a month off following the brain injury, which left him unconscious on the field at the New York Giants' MetLife Stadium.

"But after that time, he's been in the meetings," Allen said. "He's been a big part of all the game planning, that whole process -- studying the tape (and) he gives reports every week to the players. So, he's really worked hard to improve himself the best he can without actually being able to be out there to practice and play."

Thanks for posting this K Major... I hadn't seen this yet and it's really great to hear that he's doing so well and that he'll be back in the mix next season! Breaux and Williams looked like a great duo for the half a game they played together lol.

Competition for cornerback going to be competitive.

Chances are they going to draft a corner with multitude of talented corners coming out of 2017 draft. I didn't mention P.J Williams or Breaux, they're locked to make the team

We have plenty of depth at corner back, but it's still a position of need. Why? Our top 3 corners can never stay healthy. Breaux, Williams, and Swann are hurt all the time.

not a bad group to start with but plenty of room for upgrades

One basic thing stood out is the need for height length and hops.

Sterling Moore, Kyle Wilson and BW Webb are free agents after this season and Moore is the only one I could see us making a real effort to resign. Breaux, Williams and Crawley are pretty much locks.

We have the worst luck with CB's.

The last time we had two decent ones starting together was Greer and Porter. Ever since then, whenever we have one decent starter the other projected starter always goes down.

Lewis starts, Greer breaks leg
Breaux starts, Lewis gets injured
PJ williams starts, both he and Breaux get injured.

Payton carries a lot of corners because apparently they are fragile. Still, next year we should have a very solid secondary to start training camp. I just hope they can make it through the season without going on IR and make a contribution on the field not just in the class room.

Personally, I hope that we don't draft another corner......at least don't use a high draft pick on one with us having good depth going into next year. We need O-line, TE and DE desperately.
