What I wish we had/ could find again

With all of our success on offense this year, and I think this is the best group of receivers we have ever had, I can't help but wonder if we can get a Reggie (first few seasons with us) or Sproles type catching passes out of the backfield how absolutely unstoppable we will be.

Yes we need a guard and to monitor the situation with Terron. We also need to look to replace Zach. I wonder if Turner can make a leap in his second year. He may not be a great pass blocker, but I watched him on the run near goal line and he took his guy about 10 yards down the field. Be nice if he could improve his pass blocking.

We did. Spiller. Ended up cutting him. Another wasted FA signing.

How long did Spiller last when he signed with Seattle?

True. Several of us were puzzled and pissed off by the FO cutting him. Then he went to Seattle. Was cut shortly after. His last stop was with the Jets. Cut again. He's carried 6 times this year. Something is wrong with him. So the Saints made the right move.

dude, he's not on the team anymore so let's move forward. I was just looking for a nice conversation on finding someone. Spiller hasn't signed with anyone, maybe he just isn't healthy?

This is true, he isn't healthy, clearly

I would like a sledge hammer. Ingram has done nicely and a big bruiser to spell him out(Blount type) we could have a great ground game to go side by side with an air attack. A little more upgrade on the front line and we could be set.

It got so predictable though. That last season we had Sproles every defense had it figured out and it wasn't effective anymore.

He had 71 catches for 600 yards. Either way, I don't think there was anything predictable about it, but even if you think that, with the receivers we have now it would just be another target to have to try and cover.

Why do we need to replace Zach? He was one of the best lineman in football this year and he isn't costing us that much.

Because this was his 11th season. I prefer not to wait until the wheels fall off before we start looking for his replacement

The best defenses in the league do not allow those screen plays. Sproles in 2013 was subpar, which was why he was traded. He was just a decoy really. It's also rediculous to think Brees(or Payton) needs screen passes to win.

And if Payton trades up to get that one guy, a lot of us will be outraged.

Interior flexibility to groom

Ethan Pocic C/OG/OT LSU 6056 309 5.18 Sr #77 Sr
Mr versatility. has played every position in his time at LSU

Mason Cole C/OG/OT Michigan 6045 305 5.06 #52 rJr
strength and athleticism

Need a swing OT to groom

Ryan Ramczyk OT/OG Wisconsin 6052 314 5.29 #65 rJr
back injury worries me

Garret Bolles OT/OG/DT Utah 6052 296 4.97 #75 Jr
nasty, mean mobility/balance. 296 is rock solid

Mike McGlinchey RT/LT Notre Dame 6072 310 5.22 #68 rJr
Steady Eddie does nothing great but what he does he does well

Avery Gennesy OT/OG Texas A&M 6045 305 5.08 #65
needs some work but he is about as flexible as they come

The draft is solid in players that fit our needs and can play all over the OL. Right or Left no big deal. they swing

Trade back and snag both in round 2

Ethan Pocic C/OG/OT LSU 6056 309 5.18 Sr #77 Sr
Garret Bolles OT/OG/DT Utah 6052 296 4.97 #75 Jr

I would be feeling mighty good about OL future going into 2017

The man caught 71 passes for 600 yards. Do you understand this, and it was only 15 catches less than his first season with us. He ran way more than screen plays, as a matter of fact our best rb at running a screen play was PT. Sproles ran a variety of routes. It would certainly not hurt to have that type of mismatch again and forces the defense to account for another offensive weapon

I always like the idea of more picks, but SP never trades back...I don't know why

The eagles are RUN FIRST team. We cannot compare to them but I saw several times in 2013, a screen play to Sproles ended in negative yards. We don't need this. Payton needs this but Brees doesn't.

I didn't, he had 71 catches for 600 yards. We used to run screens better than any team in the entire league. Toward the end of this season we started getting more productive with screens again. Nice to see.

WTf are you talking about Philly for. They don't even have the same head coach man. You are all over the place spewing nonsense. I said it would help create mismatches and it would.

This thread was not asking for your opinion of Darren Sproles, what Drew Brees needs vs the needs of SP, or what the hell the Philadelphia Eagles base plan of attack is. It was a thread created to see if people could identify a candidate for those duties. Now go create a 6 layer (and yes that says layer not player) 8 team trade Post, please.

Brady need screens? ever here of Dion Lewis or James White?

Remember another kid named Kevin Faulk?

You damn straight, Skippy, NE relies on the screen pass...

Rodgers hasn't won sh*t since he hasn't had his running backs...

ALL, and I mean ALL, successful teams rely on the screen pass...

Even Oakland won more games in a generation this season because of the screen pass...

Tampa Bay had a mini run in the middle of the season with a healthy Jacquizz Rodgers doing damage...

If you don't have the screen pass in your arsenal - you're not going very far...

They made the wrong move by cutting sproles and signing spiller in the first place.

Ingram catches the ball well. He caught the ball a lot for Bama. Why do we put Cadet on the field/roster? Christian McCaffrey anyone? Gives us a true 3rd down back and a good returner. If we moved up for Fournette though, I'd be glad.

So you mean to tell the offense struggled this year in those games they lost because they didn't have Reggie or Sproles? Honestly Cadet is fine(not to be used whenever though), the problem is the OFFENSIVE LINE and that bum TE when playing those kinds of games. Some say the oline is fine but Peat was okay at LT, and the LG position was weaker as a result. Kelemete just does not do enough. And then you have RG where Jahri underperforms against stronger defenses.

Oh and Ellias Williams is suggesting we bring back Reggie.......

You better check some of Peat's grades at LT, he had a 90+ game last week; and Peat usually didn't know he was playing LT till the game with the on again, off again injury drama of Armstead...

Everyone here knows LG and RG is a problem; Kelemete and Lelito are obvious backups who are now well-seasoned...

Besides Deuce PT was the best all around back we've had in a long time. He will always be the screen king to me. It was a thing of beauty to watch. He didn't run like a scat back in runs, he was a smart runner reading his blocks and making the most of his moves to get him into open field. Oh yes, he was good inside too.:bng:

I would need to take a few months off from watching Saints football if that happened lol. I'd hope the FO isn't that stupid.

Dalvin Cook would be a player that fits the role that Reggie played while here. He will be available at #15 BPA in my mind. Not the biggest need but I would love to see him in Payton offense. I thinking Marshal Faulk!!!!!

The problem is the o line... Man are you on drugs?

Cadet is the worst scat back we have had in 15 years and our o line is the 6 th best in the league. We do need a reliable scat back, it's been severely missing over the last few years. Icing on the cake is how well sproles has done. Lastly, sproles wasn't cut because if his performance, he was let go because of his injury issues. Sproles didn't play much in the back half of the season, but was responsible for many wins we had when he was healthy...

Things we need
Another athletic LB that can stay healthy.
Big, mean DT.
Scat back.
OG.

But above all else, a good DE across from Cam.
