Five 7-9 seasons with Brees as QB is criminal!

We must have an awesome defense!

Let me guess who the top six is

1.NE
2.Green Bay
3.Pittsburgh
4.Seattle
5.Indianapolis
6.Denver

But also four of the last ten years includes 06, 09, 10, and 11. Kind of unfair.

Since 2012
NE-50
Den-46
Cin-39
GB-40
Sea-45
Pit-40
Ari-41
Det-34
Dal-37
Ind-38
KC-45
Phi-34

Car-40
NO-32(tied with Baltimore, Miami)

14th best record in the last four years.

How the **** is that unfair? Is it unfair to count any of the other team's good seasons? Or just the Saints?

I can almost agree with your last 4 years comment. But you lost me with the unfair comment. Ridiculous. As usual.

I didn't get that either. The record of a team is just that, their record.

Hopefully the last few years off season moves are coming to fruition for the defense. This is DA's second season but he started turning the defense around midway through the previous season after taking over for fat boy. Ireland has an eye for defensive talent and it is beginning to show in our drafts.
This year will be an exciting year for our Saints! :bng:

That and the replacement of subpar coaching and the return of a plethora of injured players.

13-3

7-9

You call that 50%

Gonna go ahead and make sure to state that Damian Swann has been hurt the better part of two years, Kikaha missed all of last year, similar injuries in college, Williams has played 1.5 games out of 32 since entering the NFL, Ellerbe will miss a good half the season. I am not counting on these guys to make huge contributions. They may, but counting on it would not be smart.

I call that one season at 50%, four seasons at one game under 50%, and five seasons at four or more games over 50%. 94-66 overall or 58.8%. Don't forget that the 2012 season does not belong to Payton at all. If anyone, it belongs to Goodell.

As much as I like Kikaha I'm afraid the ACL injuries (3) are going to doom
him in the NFL.

Agreed, coming back from 2 ACL tears and having a great season in college is one thing, now another injury along, how is he going to respond.

We sure do love injury prone players.

I guess it all depends on who you replace those subpar coaches with... it could end up being a lateral move or even a downgrade.

Not saying it will, but just hiring new coaches doesn't mean a thing if the culture doesn't change along with the personnel.

Last 3 years we sucked. Bottom line SP has to find a way to break through this funk. Don't waste another year of Drew.

The top 6 teams draft well year in and year out. I'll go out on a limb and guess each teams' dead money is bottom half of the league also.

Well, now that you mention it, that limb would break ...

2016 top dead money list (playoff teams in bold)

1. Saints $42,117,529
2. Browns $34,769,318
3. Falcons $25,515,681
4. Lions $24,640,869
5. Eagles $23,450,018
6. Rams $21,289,406
7. Bills $18,545,345
8. Titans $18,025,957
9. Colts $17,134,153
10. Dolphins $16,872,639
12. Patriots $16,653,725
16. Giants $14,597,316

So, five of the playoff teams were in the upper half of dead money in 2016, including the Falcons at #3 and the Lions at #4. And how about those annually successful Patriots at #12?

And, in addition, the Saints 2017 dead money figure will be right at $9 million.

I think a downgrade is impossible. I would suggest you wait and see. Much less stressful. And think positive thoughts. It helps, especially when it is something that you have no control over whatsoever.

I often wonder if anyone from the New Orleans Saints franchise ever looks
at any of the forums. There are a lot of smart people on this board who know
this team and players and also prospective players.

It is unfair because we only have five noteworthy seasons. And they have happened nearly in succession(4 of 5 seasons) outside of the first season.

Furthermore, the last ten years means nothing and all of those double digit win seasons have been surrounded by no less than 7 wins. We are also underneath all of the other notable teams who had runs from 2006. We're probably the top of the rest of the pack.

If they do I'm glad they don't listen. If they did they would have fired Sean Payton, traded Drew Brees for good ole Johnny Football, imagine that mess. lol

I'll go out on a limb and say NONE. Not during the off season, holiday season, vacation season. Never.

Their kids ... maybe ;).

clearly no one here has the information or experience people like SP and the other coaches, but many people have been calling for the heads that rolled recently. So sometimes fans do know some things and are right about some things.
