11. New Orleans Saints: Derek Barnett, Edge rusher, Tennessee

New season, same old issues on defense for New Orleans. The Saints ranked last in pass yards allowed per game (273.8), and much of it was due to an anemic pass rush that ranked sixth-worst with 30 sacks. They need another edge rusher to take the pressure off Cameron Jordan. Derek Barnett has good size at 6-3 and 265 pounds and can rush the passer from either side of the line, using active hands to shed blockers and disrupt plays in the backfield. A lot of his production at Tennessee is due to the Vols' aggressive style of defense, so he'll need to prove he can transcend scheme fit, but the technique and talent are there.

Barnett is my dream pick. Starting to think about a Mike LB though like Foster. I hated the idea of plugging in a rookie LB when Vitt was here because he'd never get him coached up and capable of running the defense. Now, depending on who we bring in to coach LB's I'm starting to reconsider that. We have got to get that position settled.

I'd love to have Barnett.

I understand why people like Peppers but he just doesn't have a true position. There's no way I'd want him at linebacker. He's not a true corner and I'm just not interested in drafting drafting another hybrid safety.

I see peppers as a Shaq Thompson kinda guy. Lotta hype because he played a lotta positions, but I don't think he's very polished at any of them. No one really knows quite where to put him in the pros, and I'd rather we didn't spend the 11th overall pick on a project. If secondary is where they go I'd rather Jamal Adams. But really I'd rather see them go DE or LB.

I can wish can't I? It's the little things he does that make him good. He would look good in a Saints uniform.
