so how is it that one child can be supported on 6000. 00 per year and another requires 400,000, when the kid on 6K is never getting to 400K in their lifetime. Load of bull****. Child support is bull****, and not because men shouldn't take care of their children, but because of absurd inequalities like this where a child doesn't require this amount of money and so you're paying for the mother's lifestyle. That's not child support. Men need to stand the **** up and start voting like women have been doing.


And I am not arguing this was over one year, I don't care if it was 10 years, 400K over 10 years is bull****

And I am in no way justifying this, but you can see why an extremely young man would be scared that he would be driven broke by a woman who had his child and so he gets scared and decided to murder her and her baby. Again, I am not justifying murder, but I am saying that this is what people can be driven to when you live in an unfair system.

I have no issues paying mine. While I agree that it seems unfair and sometimes is, it's based on your income. If you can't pay the money, then it has to be amended through the court.

Look, regardless of anything, he obviously should've had plenty of money to pay. But he got himself into financial trouble like so many players do.

I don't feel sorry for these guys when they piss away their money and make poor decisions. And I certainly don't feel bad for men who make millions, have kids with someone, then have to pay for it. Regardless of how much it is.

And **** Ray Carruth. I don't give a hell about him. He was "scared" of child support so he murdered his gf and unborn child? Actually had her murdered. Sorry. Dude I hope you said that wrong because I don't feel bad for that POS at all. And I don't "see why" or how he did it. If he made a successful plot to kill them both. What kind of person do you really think he is? I'll tell you...A piece of garbage that should never see the light of day again.

There are simple solutions, but you have to overcome them politically. Payer pays into an account, not directly to payee. Payee can withdraw from that account for expenses, and the definition of 'expenses' shall be liberal. Kid's are expensive.

But payee must justify every expense, just like an HSA, and if payee tries to use money for a nice case of wine from Napa the swipe will be rejected. Any overage can be credited back to next year's Payer account so he/she pays less if monies aren't spent, but never more than the court orders for funding the account fully. Heck, the account could earn interest and so on and so forth and I confess, it's brilliant...

But you have to get something like this through the political minefield and they are not going to alienate that vote. I know I'd march on Washington if I thought it would help. Child/Spousal support has obliterated my income, just like the lawyer said it would.

I am willing to bet you don't pay 400,000 either. Again, it shouldn't be based on how much you earn, that doesn't make sense. A child is a child is a child so why would his child cost more than your child? It is supposed to be support for a child, and if the father has so much money that the child's life should improve with the income he earns then the child should be placed with the father due to the means with which he can provide said support.

I think Ray Carruth is a murderer, but I also think he was young. Laws like this drive people to do insane things. Fear is a hell of a motivator. The system is unfair and until it is reformed you're going to see husbands and father doing things they may not have done otherwise.

If we were to put that over 18 years that's 22,000. a year or 1851. a month. There are adults who live off of less. It's a joke.

So If he could show that he is broke, would the debt be written off and the monthly payments changed to something more reasonable?

Probably not the current debt. Because that is back owed. But future payments would be lower. So basically, if I change jobs and my income goes to crap, I can call the state and they can amend my current payments. They basically make you pay a percentage of your income. The more you make, the more you pay. The less you make, the less you pay. It's always about the same percentage. The income changes will change he payment.

I see your point and I agree. But let's look at it like this....If I pay say 15% of my annual salary for CS and I make 60,000 a year. And he pays 15% of his and he makes 5 million a year, he's obviously gonna pay much more.

Now that seems unfair to the guy right?

Okay, well of the state says OK everyone, it's now only going to cost 2000 a month for child support for everyone....That's a huge chunk out of a person's wallet that doesn't make much compared to a drop in the bucket for someone who is rich.

I guess my point here is....There's no real fair way. Someone is gonna take a hit. With taking a percentage of a person's salary, it keeps the CS a constant. It takes as much from the poor guy as the rich guy.

Not a perfect system. But it's the system.

Well you could make it a percentage of a persons salary and then cap it at a certain figure. So a person with a lesser income would have to pay less than that figure and no matter if I made a billion a year I'd still only pay the cap number.

I understand your point there, so I agree with cru, it is a % of your salary to a max amount it takes to raise a child. Boom, fair and done.

The thing is the system is stupid as well because if a man makes 120,000.00 in a year and that year had a bunch of OT and then the economy tanks and OT goes away he is still said to be able to make 120,000.00 because he did it in the past. It is a completely ****ed up system, but I think the cap is a great idea!

Child Support should be based at 35% above poverty.

Most of that $400K should have gone into trust until child was 30, unless the child showed aptitude and college based need, then withdrawals directly to the school could be made...

Judges and Lawyers wrapping themselves in self-righteousness and sticking it to everyone they can while self-enriching their finances...smh
