Seems kind of like we hit the lottery this season cap relief wise.

Re: Saints have an extra $5.75M in Cap space
If you include the bonus conversions that Loomis always writes into his contracts and the probable annual extension to Brees' contract the total free cap space can approach the $50 million range.

YES YES YES
will we get that big name big gun free agent de/lb. Is this the year we make huge strides back to the mix of power rankings and playoff admiration's, are we ready, you damn right were ready to get out of this slutty rutt we've been in. We are a couple of players away, i believe to make that push back and say enough is enough. |

Problem with having that much money to spend(Browns) is that there aren't enough good FAs to spend it all on because you still have 31 other teams in the market as well. It also means you currently have little to 0 depth. So you end up like TB did a few years ago when they had like 80 million to spend, way overpaying for a few good players, "winning" FA, and still being a terrible team. |

“I signed a one-year extension ... so I plan on playing that out and just allowing things to take form and take shape here for next year and putting forth my absolute best effort to help us win a division championship and then a world championship and then again, just one year at a time,” Brees said. “And that’s not a lack of commitment or anything like that. I just want to focus on what’s right in front of me.” |

San Fran with over 40 mil!!! Christ what we could do with that. Carolina has a lot too and they get a couple players and will be hard to beat. When is Matt Ryan due for a raise?

Re: Saints have an extra $5.75M in Cap space
We are beginning to reap the benefits of restructuring our scouting and coaching departments the last couple of years. Apparently Ireland is the real deal in finding defensive talent and making that translate to the team on draft day. I like that he has been productive since he came onboard at the Senior bowl.....he was even more productive last year with a full year in our system. I have high hopes that Ireland can spot the talent needed for us to build through the draft defensively.

We just need a couple of good CB's and DE's with some of that cap money
