HOUSTON -- Most people agree the New Orleans Saints' biggest need in the draft is a defensive end, but their top player at that position would like to see the team target another area.

Last year, Cameron Jordan wanted the Saints to draft a defensive tackle to help provide more disruption on the interior. New Orleans proceeded to sign Nick Fairley as a free agent then draft Sheldon Rankins in the first round and David Onyemata in the fourth.

"I'm going to leave the drafting to them," Jordan said Wednesday on Super Bowl 51's radio row. "They seem to be doing well when we go draft a good defensive guy. Now, would I like a high defensive end? Yeah. But at the same time, I'll take a corner."

So he doesn't have to share sacks with another end that may get there first.

If the front line got better pressure our cb's wouldn't have to cover for so long. Allen blitz's alot and they still don't get there. I don't see 2 (Revis types) but I got to agree about getting better cb.'s, ours are made of glass. I fix the front line first and foremost.

Jordan's comments were in response to direct questions while being interviewed on Radio Row. In no way could they be construed as awkward especially given we had, what seven, corners go down this past season? He said exactly what many here have been saying. I'm sure everyone on the team would agree.

And it had nothing whatsoever to do with Twitter.

Jordan, besides Brees, is the most interview-able Saint on the roster. That's why he is in such demand there. The NFL Network morning show spent an extended time with him on set Wednesday.

Did you hear the interview? He was advocating adding another quality DE and added that they could use another couple of CB's, as well. He is one of the most team oriented players on the roster if you'd take the time to listen to him instead of taking a few printed statements out of context.

Why are people around here so ready to anything said as a negative?

I don't think Cam meant any harm, but in most cases it's not a good idea for someone on a team to make comments regarding draft needs. This can be easily taken the wrong way by teammates.

I want a cornerback in the 2nd round, Tre'davious White of LSU to be specific. My gut tells me we should draft Reuben Foster if he's available at 11. We have to continue to improve the speed of our defense. We are much faster at DT with Fairley and Rankins. Vonn Bell has excellent speed for a safety. Hopefully we can add a quality pass rusher on the other side of Jordan via free agency and add one or two 3rd down, pass rusher specialists for depth. So me, I'm going LB if Foster is there, DE if he isn't....or maybe Jabril Peppers.

"In no way" is quite strong, and "everyone on the team would agree" is inaccurate. I am not an expert on all subjects and don't pretend to know things that I possibly couldn't, but I doubt Swann, Breaux, Williams, Webb, Crawley and Moore would welcome 2 new corners.

Maybe Cam should have wished that the guys we have would get healthy, not replaced

yeah I couldn't agree more. I usually think pics could go either way and this year I think this is the right call and any others I will be calling for their heads.

Not to get off track but I'm really crossing my fingers on the overall health for PJ this off season. The past injury and subsequent season ending concussion (Giants) was scary. Hopefully he returns 100%.

Can you post where Jordan went "all crazy" on twitter saying the Saints don't need Norman? I can't remember that and have not been able to find any reference.

There were a few of the Saints players that tweeted in support of trying to sign Josh Norman. I don't remember any of them not wanting it.

We have a DEs coming off of IR and yet I have no faith in their ability to stay healthy.

Go FA and blow a huge chunk of change? Upgrade the Piece mealed DE rotation via draft and/or FA.
Not a bad draft and FA to go that route.

I still beat the drum that not having a SLB is killing us.

Couple of CB can be had in this draft easy. FA has some great options also

So Cam has a solid shot at getting everything on his wish list.
