Re: New Orleans Saints 2017 free agency outlook: Cornerbacks
with a draft as deep as this and so many players coming of IR at CB I really do not get spending a boat load in FA on a CB. especially at a position were contracts are over inflated.
With Byrd still sucking the life out the defense money with his contract I just do not see it. Sign a replacement for Byrd at a solid dollar amount and/or draft a player makes more sense to me. Then talk CB enter FA Micah Hyde FS/SS Green Bay Packers 26 Then spend at least 3 picks in the draft on the secondary. Wait and see what happens with other teams cuts |

Re: New Orleans Saints 2017 free agency outlook: Cornerbacks
More worried about Right Guard and Defensive End...
If you bring back Sterling Moore, healthy starters, and those young rookies - that's a good krewe... What will make them better though is an honest to goodness pass rush (Defensive End), AND A balanced offense with a run game (Right Guard) so we take back time of possession... |

Unfortunately it makes no sense to cut him in 2017 |

Sign Fairley and we draft a CB at #11
Let him walk and we go front seven at #11 |

So your not backed into a corner to cut him and can see how the signing works out for say a Micah Hyde. besides a player like Hyde is coming to getting his just deserved shot at starting and will not break the bank. either way i see it as a win win either way. My 2017 FA theme for our defense. 1 Proven players stuck as back ups deserving a shot to start. 2 Upgrade team over all depth 3 Flexibility to fill more than one position and preform at a high level That is why my top defensive players this year are Micah Hyde FS/SS/PR A.J. Klein MLB/OLB Lawrence Guy DE/DT example roll the dice on a player like Rex Burkhead RB Bengals and it pays off You can free up roster spot or two given we carry Murphy, Marcus Travaris Cadet Daniel Lasco They have proven they can all the positions they are listed at and wont break the bank to sign. Sure it is a gamble but with DA just starting to build this defense IMO it is a calculated risk that could pay off huge dividends. Add to it the fact they have the ability to replace players with higher contracts this year and next year is huge. We wont be backed into a corner down the road. I have not found a CB in FA that meets my FA standards yet. |
