Our other UFA's

Kruger, 31 $3,000,000
Lelito 27 $1,700,000
Harper 34 $1,100,000
Evans 33 $1,000,000 (although we paid him a fair amount more when we cut him, so that # is skewed)

Moore, Hightower, Sanford, Cadet, & Mauti, (and 5-6 others) also are UFA but made less than a million.

Who do we keep?

Will anyone sign Kruger? Can't imagine for anywhere near 3... Lelito has been gifted a starting job and just can't keep it. Moore is probably tops on my list

I'd move on from Kruger. And for me, it's not just about "sack" numbers. We need a maniac off the edge who can disrupt the timing of a QB... consistently.

I'm so glad the Browns outbid us for him when he left the Ravens, SP was doing everything he could to sign Kruger.

Lose Kruger, Lelito, Harper, Sanford........oh, and definitely Cadet needs to go.

and Kruger if he agrees to take a pay cut. 1.5. adds depth that is much needed and he knows our defense.

I would add Evans to the keep list, yeah he is old but no replacement is on board yet.

I'd apply the same for Kruger and the others...

Until you get a better player, why move on just to move on?

Is the player a distraction? disruption? disharmonious?

Paul is probably a great guy inside the Saints locker room but JP we need dawgs on that D line (specifically coming off the edge). Sean Payton has already said publicly that getting a pass rusher is priority #1. Expect them to bring in an upgrade this off season opposite Cam and also draft a young stud (Thomas, Barnett, Foster etc).

Addison, JPP or if you want to push all of your chips forward bring in Melvin Ingram :p.

It's time to get Brees back to the promised land before he is done.

Well, keep in mind that we signed Kruger, injured, as the season opened, no training camp...

Bring him in for a modest vet contract; even with his age, he's still a starter that just needs to be in a rotation

He does have a season now in the system and it would give some continuity for the defensive line...

And I'm not saying we don't spend a high draft pick and/or make a run at one of the two top defensive ends in FA...

You really have to have three good defensive ends rotating to be a championship-caliber roster and w/o Kruger we have one (Jordan)...

Which begs the question how many roster spots are we going to spend on edge rusher this year?

We will most likely try to bring in a top tier vet or two and a couple of mid tier vets before we address it again in the first two rounds of the draft.....possibly with a later pick as well. We double dipped at DT in the draft last year and I could see us doing it again for an immediate starter and a player to develop.

I fear for Kikaha's future but I want him to succeed and trust that he is healed from his surgery and is ready to compete at training camp. He has a good shot at being productive as a speed rusher on third down when we need a stop. I hope he is ready to get after the QB!

The Saints will bring 90 players to training camp in Metairie but I wonder if Kruger will take a pay cut to come in and compete? Because he's not worth what we are paying him . We signed him late last year after injuries started decimating us and he did alright but he was not competitive enough to suit me. He knows the system and is good depth but I don't know if he'll be back next year or not.
