"We may have lost the game...,

but you'll be hurting tomorrow."
I really don't get that quote. Can someone explain it to me?

A winning QB getting sacked 10 times in a game.

It refers to a quote by Saints DE Dog Atkins, The Saints teams he played on were awful. They played Hard they were just outmatched

It means I hate losing and I am going to beat you as hard as I can. It's not going to be a cake walk no matter how many times you score. When you crawl out of bed it's going to be a tough day getting around with your banged up body hurting from top to bottom. But mostly across your stomach and chest where I nailed you every time I got the chance.

Re: "We may have lost the game...,

It was a quote from DT Doug Atkins from the early 70s, but it really applied to many of our 80s & 90s teams... Dome Patrol, etc, where we might not have been winners, but we always had some fierce, mean hitters.
-- I remember watching in person the beating Joe Montana would take vs. guys like Frank Warren, Jim Wilks, Bruce Clark, and yes, Ricky Jackson... Montana would gut it out, and find a way to pull another miracle out, but man, some of the hits we leveled on the 49ers back then.
-- I am convinced it was US, who drove Steve Young into an untimely retirement... He always insisted on running, and he would pay the price vs. our Dome Patrol, even past their prime. Too many knocks on the head... Anybody else remember that home opener vs. the 9'ers in ? 94? when he pretty much dropped out in his own huddle after running into Turnbull and Warren. The next play Grbac threw a pick 6, and the Dome went Ape... Of course, eventually we lost the game in another heartbreak....
---yeah... it hurt to play us.

The Cleveland Browns selected Atkins with the 11th overall selection in the 1953 NFL draft.[5] He played his first two seasons in the NFL with the Browns, winning the NFL Eastern Conference in 1953, and the NFL Championship in 1954.[6] The Browns traded Atkins and Ken Gorgal to the Chicago Bears for a third-round and a sixth-round pick in the 1956 NFL draft.[7][8] In Chicago, Atkins quickly became the leader of a devastating defensive unit. With the Bears, Atkins was a First Team All-Pro selection in 1958, 1960, 1961, and 1963, along with being a starter in the Pro Bowl in eight of his last nine years with Chicago.[9]

At the 1966 Pro Bowl, Atkins announced his retirement from football. He changed his mind and signed with the Bears for the 1966 season.[10] Before the 1967 season, Atkins requested a trade from Chicago and was traded to the New Orleans Saints. He suffered a fractured knee cap during the 1968 season.[11] He retired after the 1969 season. On the final play of his NFL career, Atkins sacked Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dick Shiner, preserving the Saints' 27–24 victory in the 1969 season finale.

I agree on most of it except Montana had a long career, playing up until 40 as a backup. He got the best of us for sure. They cheated their ass off on the salary cap though, no way he would have that kind of success today. Stories of them paying players cash under the table to stick around. Some of those SB's are fraudulent.
