There's a strategy to earning compensatory draft picks and the Saints choose not to take part. We simply don't value draft picks.

If you sign free-agents equal to the ones you lose... no picks. We don't lose big free-agents, therefore no picks!!! |

I'd really like to see compensatory picks eliminated & the draft extended to ten rounds...
But that latter wish may hurt the Saints in UDRFA success... Then again, it may force them to do a better job of draft management... |

Cleveland had no one to lose but got a rd 3 pick, 2 rd 4's and a rd 5.
