Maybe it's just my imagination working overtime, but if we did move Cooks perhaps we could consider adding Brandon Marshall. Yes he is getting older, but having a very physical possession receiver like Marshall intrigues me. It could bolster our running game and could give our admittedly soft offense some ooomph. Also when you consider that Brees would be far and away the best QB that Marshall has ever worked with, that seems like a plus.

Looks like there's still something in the works with the Patriots...

Sounds like they're the front runners.

Malcolm Butler and the 32nd pick for Brandin Cooks?

Then let's sign Hightower as our OLB and draft heavy upfront

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

Just on a side note, if Cooks does get dealt to the Patriots, how is he going to cope? The patriots run more than we do and Brady spreads it around the same as Brees?

Let's trade him to the Browns instead, they have 2 first round picks.

Could see him being the Wes Welker role there
If they want him you know they have a plan.

Butler is a RFA this summer isnt he?

Cooks, pick 11, and SP for BB and their 32?

I said eirlier they could sweeten the deal and if they really want Cook and they will. BB will fleece Payton and have Payton smile about it.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

After all this ruckus, I wouldn't dare send him to a winner like New England. Send him to Tennessee and let's find out how much he likes their offense. Whatever they do, I hope it's done before free agency starts. As soon as I saw that Brandon Marshall was released I wanted us to pick him up on a 2 year deal. It's time to make some huge changes.

We don't really ever sign big name WR's. We draft or sign undrafted guys who fit the system.

If Cooks is unhappy now, going to the Pats not even Prozac could help him. Never going to put up big numbers in that offense. I would however like to get James White or Chris Hogan. Lunch pail kinda guys and no problem with role playing from them. It's what they do.

We don't need huge changes, we need a dominant offensive and defensive line. Those two things work wonders

apparently Philly thought the #46 pick was going
to be enough to land the #7 guy in yardage from last year:

Because he is 38 and threw 100 more balls than any other qb last year.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

The only thing that worries me about potentially trading Cooks to get the assets to try fixing our defense is that we tried this method two years ago and failed miserably. Maybe with a new defensive coaching staff we'll have better luck but it's still the same brain trust identifying talent.

Hmm!!! I was expecting some kinda feud between BC & MT, competition between teammates is great but disrespect lead to cancerous locker room

Supposedly that was in response to Cooks saying something negative about Thomas and Snead on Snapchat... but I know nothing about Snapchat so I have no proof.

Good grief. That explains a lot. Thanks for the memories. Too bad your head got too big to be a good teammate Cooks.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

Here's why the Saints may be fielding offers for WR Brandin Cooks:

WR Brandin Cooks, Oregon St, 5' 10", 189 lbs, 4.33 sec 40 yd, 36 inch vertical jump, 10' 0" long jump

WR John Ross, Washington, 5' 11", 190 lbs, 4.22 sec 40 yd*, 37 inch vertical jump, 11' 1" long jump

Posted the stats to show how eerily similar the two players really are...

Each can be elite slot receivers who can get the jump on slower, bigger slot cornerbacks...

Or they can line up outside and pull safeties way back for their teammates

Or even just blow the top off for the big play if they're disrespected...

Of these two players, one is about to get a big jump in salary cap money...

And Ross has two bum knees. No thanks. Don't want him. Rather keep Cooks.

Exactly. Big risk and hoping that you end up with what you already had.

Saints fans may eat it up, but players really need to stay away from social media...

Coach Payton is having an anti-social media shield installed at the Saints locker room et al facilities...

Gotta get off the Twitter and Instagram fellas...

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

Ross cramped after his 40 and couldnt participate in the other drills. His biggest knock is his inability to stay on the field, and that's why he's not considered a high first rounder. We don't need any more of those risks on our team.

Hey, I'm on y'all team - my preference is a high impact defender in round 1, if we are at 11 I'm hoping Foster or one of the elite cornerbacks...

If we go offense, it'd be OT Ryan Ramczyk, Wisconsin - if we have a trade for Armstead and a mid first round pick and a fourth coming right back to us...

If you don't mind, don't jinx it as we'd really like to get some defense... ;)

Praying LF stays out of our Division. We are going to get a good player at 11. If we can get two picks in the first even better. If Panthers miss on LF and we get two picks in the first that is the most ideal situation to me. Have to fix this weak defense. If we can go from 27th to say 18th in that department we are going to make the playoffs.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

did the pats make the right price on cooks that he was worth a 32nd pick only i'm not liking it but u have to see where there coming from. then payton immediately tossing it out like its a bs offer? if we don't accept a pick lower that 11 we are not going to get a fair trade, if its above 11 its a swap pick. and no other picks later.
