Drafting Players vs Trading for Players

Does drafting first round players really make sense?

SELL TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER!

Imagine how much better our team would be if we traded our #1 pick every year for a
  • PROVEN NFL PLAYER
  • who is around age 24
  • with no injury history
instead of the BOZO list below.

Look at some of these Bozo players we drafted and it becomes immediately clear.

2006 2 Reggie Bush Running back Southern California
2007 27 Robert Meachem Wide receiver Tennessee
2008 7 Sedrick Ellis Defensive tackle Southern California [u]
2009 14 Malcolm Jenkins Defensive back Ohio State
2010 32 Patrick Robinson Cornerback Florida State

2011 24 Cameron Jordan † Defensive end California
2011 28 Mark Ingram Jr. † Running back Alabama [v]
2012 — No pick — — [v]
2013 15 Kenny Vaccaro Strong safety Texas

2015 13 Andrus Peat Offensive tackle Stanford
2015 31 Stephone Anthony Linebacker Clemson [x]
2016 12 Sheldon Rankins Defensive tackle Louisville

TRADE OFFERS A 100% CHANCE OF GETTING A PROVEN PLAYER.

This is why we should be asking a FORTUNE FOR BRANDON COOKS.

Re: Drafting Players vs Trading for Players

You'd also have a very poor squad with huge turnover as without Rookie deals you'd be in cap hell year after year

Re: Drafting Players vs Trading for Players

1 year left on his rookie deal plus the option year is the huge trade value boost for the saints with cook. that and his production. but a first rounder would not be in the mix if cooks was under a veteran contract.

I like the proven vet and a pick from a team to move up in the draft myself

Re: Drafting Players vs Trading for Players

Depends on who that vet is.
I really hope they dont blink and accept Barwin or Kendricks from the Eagles. I think youll be sble to get either for a very late pick or even after they've been cut

Re: Drafting Players vs Trading for Players

I have not read any rumors about players on the trading block this year to even consider in a draft day trade. Yet

I take the draft pick buy low sale high.

It works for the smart teams do. Stay out of cap trouble and and help your teams in areas that need it most. This is the year to trade a O player to stock up on D.

Trading to a needy team has it's advantages although if we had good talent evaluators drafting well could win Championships. Hell, the right mix of both might work too.....who knows?
