Taco Charlton has a visit set up with the Saints...
|
Re: 2017 NFL ProDays - Saints Prospects
Wow, glad to know we're looking at him which means we're not taking him...[sic]
Bit of a project, but his length (height) would be tremendous at DE, I'd like the pick more now that we have two veterans manning the edges... |
Re: 2017 NFL ProDays - Saints Prospects
Project? ... shades of SJB. I really think some scouts are reaching with "Taco" in the 1st round.

The latest from Matt Miller...
Matt Miller's Scouting Notebook: Latest Pro Day Buzz and Updated 2017 Mock Draft | Bleacher Report —The New Orleans Saints could go many directions with two first-round selections in this year's draft, but I'm told by a scouting source with the team that they are in "win-now" mode and will look to plug holes in the secondary and at defensive end in Round 1. —A potential target for the Saints at the end of the first round is Kansas State defensive end Jordan Willis. His stock is red hot right now, with already 13 team visits and/or workouts scheduled. I'm told by the same Saints source that they spent considerable time with Willis at the Senior Bowl and combine. |

Saints bringing in Youngstown State's Derek Rivers for predraft visit: source
Herbie Teope, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune By Herbie Teope, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune on March 24, 2017 at 12:33 PM The draft evaluation process with pass rushers continues for the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are scheduled to host Youngstown State defensive end Derek Rivers on a predraft visit, a source familiar with the situation confirmed Friday. NFLDraftDiamonds.com, a website focused on draft prospects from small schools, first reported the news. The 6-4, 248-pound Rivers, who participated in the Senior Bowl, had an impressive showing at the NFL Scouting Combine. He posted a 4.61 time in the 40-yard dash for the fourth-fastest mark among the defensive linemen in Indianapolis; tied for the third-most bench press repetitions (30); tied for the fifth-best effort in the vertical jump (35 inches); and posted the third-best mark on the 3-cone drill (6.94). http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf...oungstown.html |

Michigan pro day notes: Taco Charlton improves 40 time
Charlton said he ran around “4.7 range, 4.80, 4.7 range, that was something that I definitely improved on and definitely wanted to do.” That’s much better than Charlton’s 4.92 run in Indianapolis. It should help the pass-rusher cement his place in the first round of April’s NFL draft. though the idea of reshuffling the Safety position together I could live with. I imagine the the future if the saints team these two guys up. Obi Melifonwu SS/FS UConn 6037 224 4.40 #20 rSr Josh Jones FS/SS N.C. State 6013 220 4.41 #11 rJr Sell out and add Kevin King CB/FS/SS Washington 6032 200 4.43 #20 Sr All three are solid tackler too boot. I would be absolutely giddy at this roll of the dice. Not sold it would work 100% but with the athletic ability of these three it would be worth the risk. Bring on the WR and TE monsters of the NFC South baby bring them on - My number CB for the move to FS were I do not question instincts is Quincy Wilson CB/FS Florida 6012 211 4.54 #6 Jr - or play it safe and draft a sure thing in round three Marcus Williams FS Utah 6005 202 4.56 #20 Jr |

BYU
Jamaal Williams RB BYU 6005 220 4.53 #21 rSr The main attraction in Provo was running back Jamaal Williams who improved his 40-yard dash time from 4.59 at the combine to 4.53 at the pro day. He also improved his vertical (33 inches, up from 30 inches) and three-cone drill (7.07, down from 7.25). Williams is on the short list to be the first senior drafted at his position, somewhere in the middle rounds. Andrew Eide OT/OG BYU 6041 298 5.12 #79 rSr Offensive lineman Andrew Eide isn’t a well-known prospect, but he should be. He was a defensive lineman at Southern Utah before moving to the offensive line and transferring to BYU for his final season in 2016. He started all 13 games at left tackle and more than held his own, projecting best inside at guard. At Friday’s pro day, Eide (6-foot-4, 303 pounds) had a 5.12-second 40-yard dash, 33 reps on the bench press, 9-foot-6 broad jump and 31-inch vertical. He was worked out as a guard, but by request from several NFL reps in attendance, Eide also snapped the football. He met with the Saints and Patriots after the workout. Kai Nacua, FS/SS, BYU 6005 209 4.50 #12 Sr Safety Kai Nacua stood out as well with his times, which would have ranked among the best at the combine among safeties. He ran a 4.50-second 40-yard dash, 39-inch vertical, 10-foot-7 broad jump, 6.84-second three-cone drill and 15 reps on the bench. Nacua is a late rounder or priority free agent. |

Re: 2017 NFL ProDays - Saints Prospects
Any chance we take a flier on Joe Mixon?
The incident has hurt his draft stock, but he's a heck of a player, I don't condone what he did but if he can prove it will never happen again I'd be inclined to use a mid round pick on him, could be a steal. |
