this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Who do we have that is going to be a "ball hawk"? because I don't see it, we can talk about getting better pressure all we want but we can't expect someone to step up and take the ball away ...

I'm not buying it
Who do we have that is going to be a "ball hawk"? because I don't see it, we can talk about getting better pressure all we want but we can't expect someone to step up and take the ball away among what we had. And safety is hard position to draft. So we're hoping the pass rush and improves and forces more third downs. I'm going to say maybe the defense is lucky enough to allow one less score, but by doing that, Brees has one more drive to do something. And if he doesn't, then we will find ourselves in the same position. Teams make big plays against us, they can adjust to smaller plays. I just don't think we have the solution to getting turnovers.

We don't have to get any turnovers at all to be quite frank, getting off the field on 3rd down will solve literally every problem we have on defense.

Let's see if this works against Green Bay and Detroit next year. Oh, and the bears no longer have Cutler either. They will be a problem as well. The schedule's better than last year for offenses against us or have the right balance to counter attack us. Green Bay, New England are good on offense Detroit, Minnesota, Chicago, Buffalo, LA are good on defense. So we want to improve defensively to force punts but when we force them against the likes of the defensive teams, they're going to hit back. The saints, without turnovers, will not be able to execute the quick strike with Ingram like they did against TB. Something tells me though we will win the division next year because the division is gonna suck. |

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't agree with you at all. The moves thus far have been great for the D. Not to mention the new position coaches... Great offseason so far and the draft is still to come. All we need is Butler and a starting DE from the draft, we could be looking at a top ten D. If you don't think that's possible just remember where we were in 2012 and how we rebounded on D in 2013, from last to 4th in one year. |
The Saints are 0-42 when running the ball less than 15 times in a game.
