Mel Kiper Mock Draft 3.0

11.) New Orleans Saints - Haason Reddick, LB, Temple

No prospect has risen as much during the pre-draft process as Reddick has. He was fantastic at the Senior Bowl, and he was one of the MVPs of the combine, with a 4.52 40, 36.5-inch vertical and 11-foot-1 broad jump. Reddick's value is in his versatility -- he could play inside or outside in a 4-3 or 3-4, with his hand in the dirt or playing on his feet in space. The Saints have made an effort to improve their 31st-ranked defense in free agency, re-signing Nick Fairley and bringing in A.J. Klein, Manti Te'o and Alex Okafor, and Reddick (6-1, 237) would probably play outside in New Orleans' 4-3.

32.) New Orleans Saints (from Patriots) - Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama

The Saints are trying to pry away restricted free-agent corner Malcolm Butler from the Patriots, but until they do, the position is a weak spot on a defense that gave up the most passing yards per game (273.8) last season. Humphrey (6-0 197) has length, strength, speed and good bloodlines (his father is former NFL running back Bobby Humphrey). I had Haason Reddick going to the Saints with their other first-round pick, and I suspect they'd be happy with two defenders who could step in and play on Day 1.

I would not grumble with two day one starters picked up early.

Ugh, and overrated cb who showed to be above avg because of the qb pressure and a de that was off the radar until the combine. No thanks. No more projects or projected talents. We need a can't miss at 11 not a "chance Robbie great".

concern #1

Marlon Humphrey at 32? I could live with no problem. Actually would say it was a steal.

Two picks with with everything banking on upside down the road. I can handle one but two? grrrrr

THIS IS MY PICK:

After watching him in the combine I wasn't impressed with LB's more than him. I even have him over Foster. I would be happy as can be with this pick

Hagan,
Where is Tre' White on your board? If he is there at #32, are you still leaning towards Humphrey? The way some of these highly projected corners are getting injured, I could see one or two rising in stock. Something tells me Tre could go top #20 if closes out with a solid LSU Pro day (April 5).

Have you watched Humohrey play? He is avg at best. I would be pissed if we took him anywhere in the first 3 rounds.

Some rumours (yes i know rumours)

That teams not impressed with Fosters IQ of picking up the Xs and Os in the meetings

I would rather have Cunningham than Reddick and Cunningham want go at 11?

Riddick started before the combine as a to 3-4 rd pick. No way ANY PLAYER should move up that far based on "tryouts". Play on the field should count for something. I will be pussed if he goes with either pick in rd 1.

I wouldn't read much into "mock" reports. Mel Kiper flip flops quite a bit prior to draft day. His 1.0 Mock draft has us selecting RF (I can agree with this pick).

Saints select Reuben Foster in Mel Kiper's '2017 Mock Draft 1.0'

Re: Mel Kiper Mock Draft 3.0

Foster.... I hope we don't pass on this dude if he is still on the board... Reddick has a great story and a hard working I wouldn't be mad about the pick but if foster is my #1 lb....

As a Bama fan, their players living up to their college play hasn't been happening. They ALL look better as a team than their individual talent is it seems.

Its because of Nick Satan. If he was still in Baton Rouge LSU would have 5 more rings.

It happens... its about your body or work and 'tryouts'. Inteviews, medical screenings... its everything. Not just one thing. He has impressed many people since the process began. Its about picking what you project... players go under the radar all the time and turn out to be Pro Bowlers. Its trying to find those players better than anyone else.

Right now everyone has him as a first rounder...

And he was always in consideration for being the best LB aside from Foster in the Draft.

Same thing happened with Sheldon Rankins though. I admittedly had barely even heard of the guy until Senior Bowl practices and he sky rocketed.

See both of these picks are all about upside so its all about a gamble. rSo is incredibly young and of all the CB in the draft I rate him as the #1 upside gamble.

Tre' White on the other hand is a senior and he has polished coverage skill. But for a senior and like most LSU players he plays soft. That is a mental approach to the game that I can not stand. It limits his upside. so he probably is just what he is with little upside left.

Humphrey is two years will be as good or better? freaking upside hyped picks.

rather gamble on O.J. Howard and T.J. Watt

Haason Reddick is a heck of gamble. position changes and all but I like the way he plays but at 11?

Did u really just say LSU players are soft????? Take a guess who has the most players in the NFL. Its absured and ignorant to call LSU players soft just because u r a gump fan.

LMAO :poke: I was only kidding about LSU players as a whole being soft. I am Tulane fan some times I can not help myself.

But when it comes to Tre' White he is soft in coverage.

Every report i have read in white says the same thing. Too soft and cant stand up in run support. In a division containing the biggest WR in the league no thank you

If we are capable to pull off the Malcolm butler trade with only given up our second or a third round pick I am predicting a huge round one surprise I believe we will trade up with our 2 first rd picks and draft Jamal Adams. The kid is going to start and be a beast in the NFL from day one. Okay, there is a .001% chance of this happening but a guy can dream right?

How quick season of games is forgotten. Media love is always scary.

Obi Melifonwu and Haason Reddick really are huge climbers. Why did they go unnoticed and so under evaluated all season long? Its not like they played ball in the back woods some where. I saw the talent and love the stories lines behind the two but now they are both 1st rounders?

you have a right to be scared. Imagine if the saints drafted after day 2

11 Haason Reddick, ILB, Temple 6014 237 4.54 #58 rSr
32 Obi Melifonwu FS/SS/OLB UConn 6037 224 4.40 #20 rSr
42 Kevin King CB/FS/SS Washington 6032 200 4.43 #20 Sr
76 Josh Jones SS/FS/LB N.C. State 6013 220 4.41 #11 rJr
103 Joe Mixon, RB, Oklahoma 6011 226 4.50 #25 rSo

By day 3 everyone would be squirming in their seats

I would be we are all in so let it ride

196 Shaquill Griffin CB UCF 6001 194 4.39 #10 Sr
229 ??????

To hell with another LB or CB. We need another DE. Then I wouldn't care who else we pick.

Throw a QB into that mix at our third pick and some folk'll be going from a squirm to a diaper change.
