Terron Armstead Restructures Contract

Hmm make of this what you will. We typically don't do this just for the heck of it.

Re: Terron Armstead Restructures Contract

I have pointed this out several times before, but here it is one more time.

Armstead DID NOT restructure his contract. He had no say so in it whatsoever. Roster bonuses are able to be converted to signing bonuses SOLELY at the discretion of the team. The player has zero input. It is a mechanism that teams can use to prorate the bonus as opposed to paying it in one lump sum. The result is nil to the player. He still receive the full amount in exactly the same manner.

As I also pointed out several times earlier, the Saints had over $14 million in roster bonuses counting toward the 2017 cap. They still have another $9 million remaining that they can convert as they so wish.

All that said, the only reason to convert is if it is going to be needed. It looks like the Saints have more major moves in mind.

Never forget how they ran with the lies from that little weasel, Mike Cerullo, and forever falsely branded the Saints.

I'll never forget this a$$wipe.

We are actually around $16.7 million under the cap with another $8 million or so available in roster bonus conversion. About $7.5 million of that would be slotted for the draft class at this point. Therefore, in currently unconverted and allocated cap we are setting at around $8.8 million.

It all depends on how you look at it. There is also a great deal more available through true contract restructures/extensions.

Teo makes much more sense to me than Ginn. Why we needed him as a day one signing is beyond me.
And I'm in the minority on Fairley, but I still think we overpaid

So there was really no need to restructure him unless they have plans for that space. I wonder if something big is in the works. Maybe a butler trade?

Yup. No need to exercise the conversion option unless they have plans for using the space this season. This is a characteristic of Loomis contracts. The true cap is never what it seems on the surface. Most media hacks couldn't balance a check book, so they sure don't have a clue about operating within the bounds of an NFL cap.

It's gotta be Butler, right?

And you're right, the cap manipulations are why GM's need to have CFO/CEO Skills. Just hire solid football guys for draft and free-agency expertise.

I think we have the new normal front office structure.

We had enough loose change behind the seat cushion to re-sign Tapp. No need to convert to raise $5 million for that.

It's been a while now since the restructure. Normally things would be happening by now. I guess Butler is in no hurry to sign his Pats contract. Who else looks good out there?

Most draft picks fail to become anything at all like Malcolm Butler.

We spent a 32 on PJ Williams a few years back. That didn't work out as we intended.
