Sean Payton: Ted Ginn Jr. still the fastest player on the field
Saints coach Sean Payton said he has a “crystal-clear vision” for new receiver Ted Ginn Jr. in the New Orleans offense.
Most of that vision is pretty obvious. Ginn is a blazing-fast vertical threat who was signed the day before the Saints traded away blazing-fast receiver Brandin Cooks. Payton pointed out during his media session at the NFL meetings on Wednesday that the two receivers are “a little different” and Ginn is a little bigger at 5-foot-11. But Payton said “he’ll do some of the same things.” “I see him playing at flanker. I see him being a guy that can take the top off the coverage. I like what this guy does,” Payton said of Ginn, a 10-year veteran who just had the best two-year stretch of his career with the Carolina Panthers, combining for 98 catches, 1,491 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2015 and 2016... When ever he has a clear vision on Offense he really hasn't been wrong everyone has been successful.

He's always been a burner. Get Johnson to work a bit of his magic on Ginn's hands and....
wait for it... Championship! |

looks great running down the field. all he has to is catch it

Re: Sean Payton: Ted Ginn Jr. still the fastest player on the field
Just keep sending him on post patterns and throw underneath. He's most effective when the ball is not thrown to him.

Re: Sean Payton: Ted Ginn Jr. still the fastest player on the field
Dude is old but if we can get one good year out of him like Beer Man Lewis this is going to work really well. He is still fast, maybe not take the top off Cook fast but good enough. Ball won't be going to him most of the time anyway but he also can't be stuck in a corner either. Leave him open and Brees will find easily.

I don't care one bit about what he does as a wide receiver... I just want the dude returning kicks and punts.

I'm more worried about his hands than I am his feet. Doesn't do any good to be fast if he can't catch the ball.

Re: Sean Payton: Ted Ginn Jr. still the fastest player on the field
He's been in the business for ten years. No way he does that if he drops everything coming his way. And he hasn't Drew throwing to him yet.

I think we get one strong year out of him. Dude is not that bright, said it himself. He has a learning disability. Just hit pay dirt a couple of times on kicks and even stevens.

this is the knock on him since he came to the NFL and the reason he never sticks with a team long. Speed and height are his only selling point. It the same hype as Cam is tough and we all know to rattle Cam the scouting report is the same year in and year out. Hit him early and often and he will fold. |
Re: Sean Payton: Ted Ginn Jr. still the fastest player on the field
cant catch, that simple, and had enpuph time to learn. punt/kick off return im ok with. Wouldnt waste a throw on him.

He got 4 touchdowns and 750 yards last season with Cam Newton throwing the ball. I'd think those numbers would get better with Drew throwing to him. He'd also have better receivers with him to make it harder for defenses to match up. |

Re: Sean Payton: Ted Ginn Jr. still the fastest player on the field
The only concern that I have is his catching ability to go up and get the ball. Yes, he still has pretty good deep speed and can run under the ball but we also know that typically Brees' deep ball is a jump ball. Most times the WR has to slowdown for the ball. That is one thing Cooks was pretty good at despite his size. Hopefully CJ can help him locate the ball better.

Re: Sean Payton: Ted Ginn Jr. still the fastest player on the field
One interesting fact, 66% of his career he has been in the playoffs. Sort of a Money Ball Jonah Hill thing going on for sure.

Burn down field full speed. Welcome!

Re: Sean Payton: Ted Ginn Jr. still the fastest player on the field
Even at 31 years of age, it wouldn't surprise me if Ted still runs sub 4.3 40.
But those hands though ... |
