I just want to kick his ass every time he writes about us going with a QB in the first round.

I'm not so sure of that. I wasn't sure of it last year either honestly. Though I count myself amongst those who believe Brees has several good seasons left in him, I can understand why the team might feel the need to address the future sooner than later. I wouldn't be overjoyed about it, much rather see all defense, but I'm prepared for it.

That would make Drew very angry. :brood:

He's staying with this team because he believes he can lead them to the promised land one more time. But if the team invests in a QB in this draft Drew will break 5,000 yards again and then will take his talents to a team ready to win that just needs a QB like Manning did.

He's staying with the Saints because most likely they promised to fix the defense. We can invest in a RB or TE early but if anything I want O-line early then defense through round seven where we can take a flyer on another offensive position.

No. He's staying with the team because he has no desire, or need, to go anywhere else. If the Saints drafted another QB Brees would once again take it in stride because he knows the guy has zero chance of ever seeing the field in a meaningful moment as a Saint.

And Brees' situation is NOTHING like Manning's. Manning was coming off an injury and was thrown to the curb by the Colts with a legitimate replacement in Luck. There is no one with a tenth of the potential as Andrew Luck had in this year's draft.

I would like to see the Ole Miss qb taken in the 5th to sit behind Brees and learn. I really like his potential and the cannon he throws with.

Further to that point, I don't think Luck has lived up to his potential.

If anyone ever gets annoyed by the saints turnovers, watch Andrew Luck, he is an absolute turnover machine.

I agree. As much as Luck was to be the next BIG thing, he has not yet done anything to make his team better.

Luck has had nothing but garbage for an O line. If you look at some of the stories from last year, you will find a ton ragging on the coaching staff and GM for not addressing the O line. He also played with a shoulder injury for almost half the season last year.

Re: Triplett: If Saints don't get Malcolm Butler, they could finally draft LSU player

I wouldn't say there isn't a quarterback "with a tenth of the potential" as Luck had in this year's quarterback class. I don't think Luck has anymore physical talent than a guy like Mitch Trubisky. The difference with Luck was supposed to be that he was the next Peyton/Brees with his on field intelligence, which is really more important than physical talent.

But that intelligence has turned out to be a bunch of hot air for Luck. I'm not saying he's dumb, but his ability to read defenses and make decisions is bottom half of all starters, at this point.

Screw lithe LSU worshippers, I prefer to draft the best player, regardless of where they went to school.

Are you LSU worshippers that insecure?

If they draft a QB before round 3 then he should be pissed. Not because he's going to be looking over his shoulder (cause we all know that won't happen) but because we actually have areas that need addressed on o-line, defense and RB. Those areas should be priority, not some bull**** QB. This QB class blows. Not worth it.

I'd deal the #42 pick and keep it moving.

It wouldn't even bother me trading #32. Let's face it, we'll probably blow that pick anyway lol.
