You know, the more I look at this schedule, the more I like it this season... We may not be getting as many night-time games in the Dome that we'd like... But we've got the opportunity to beat some Big Market teams and still fly under the radar... |
Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints Schedule
I tend to be a traditionalist...And what I'd loved to see is that the all NFL schedules begin and end with division games...
Week 3 and Week 15 would be Rivals Week - our foe being the Falcons... Have the conference foes follow the opening group and lead into the division games at the end... And in the middle of the season, have the Inter-conference games, BYE weeks, the Goodell-Nike Color-tard games, and the Rick Steves Destinations Games... |

There should be a league rule that no regular season schedule should have a team facing the same opponent in less than six weeks... This Falcons thing is Bullshinski... |

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints Schedule
The concern is the 5 days rest for the defense. Don't think they can shut down Minny and then turn around and do the same thing against NE. And this FO best save the big stuff on O for week 2 instead of wasting it on the vikings. Last year, and in recent years, hardly ever were there back to back offensive outputs of a high magnitude especially with short rest of 5 days or less in between. After every big game offensively, the offense looks less than desirable the next week and takes a couple weeks to recharge.

Don't know if it's the three 7-9 finishes, anxiousness of all the new roster additions, or getting swept by the ATL which has been rare under Coach Payton... But getting to the regular season is feeling like a marathon... |

No one opposite Cam(unless Kikaha stays healthy and is the answer which he said was a LB) Peat isn't a good oline player yet The pass rush won't be good enough to help the secondary Situational pass rushers are not the solution, which he called Okafor. Therefore with all this said, If Kikaha does not excel consistently as a DE and someone does not fill Fairley's void, then the secondary better be ready to play lights out and going for the ball because that's the only way our defense will improve(unless Nolan's coaching makes the LBs play better) And Peat.......he better be ready to step up because Ram can't do his dirty work for him as a rookie. |

Up this way in DeathStar nation I hear their coaches preach "solidifying the O line" over and over. There have been several highly rated tackles taken in the past few seasons who ended up fitting best at guard. A good/solid LG is also a good LT ... priceless. Peat has good value. Training camp awaits. |

Do you take Walter's word or not? He's the one who said Peat wasn't good enough. If he's right, that's my point. And because he will be lining up on the same side as Ram, then any missed assignments by him and Ram has to do the dirty work Streiff did for Evans(at times)/Kelemete in 2015. Of course maybe he didn't know what he was talking about because Peat hasn't played at LG consistently since the first few weeks of last season. |

Football Outsiders ranked offensive lines in different ways. They not only measured how successful a team is running the ball but also uses different metrics to try differentiate between how much of that success was due to the RB and how much of it was due to the offensive line. They ranked the Saints #1 in Adjusted Line Yards which gives an offensive line 100% credit for gains of 0-4 yards, 50% credit for gains between 5-10 yards and 0% credit for gains of 11 yards or more and 120% credit for losses. And then adjusts all that for every others team average against the same RB. The Saints ranked 9th in Power Success which measures a team's success on 3rd or 4th down and 2 yards or less to go. Also goal line runs of 2 yards or less. The Saints ranked #2 in "Stuffed" rank which measured the percentage of runs that were stopped in the backfield. The Saints ranked #19 in "Second Level Runs" in which the RB gains between 5-10 yards. And #10 in Open Field Carries, in which the RB gains 11 or more yards. Their pass blocking metrics are much simpler. They simply divide the number of sacks given up into the number of pass attempts to determine sack rate. The Saints ranked #5. Given how high the Saints ranked last season with Peat in the lineup, he must've been pretty solid. FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | 2016 OFFENSIVE LINES |

If the saints start out 2-0 and both good offensive games, then something from last year stinks big time and its name is Payton.
