Mark Ingram responds to the Saints signing Adrian Peterson
“I’m all about winning, man,” Ingram said, via NOLA.com. “If this will help us win, I’m all about winning. I’m all for it. Listen, man, it’s nothing new. I’ve been sharing the ball with one or two, maybe three guys since I got here.”

Re: Mark Ingram responds to the Saints signing Adrian Peterson
Dude that article says that AP will be handling the "brunt of carries on 1st and 2nd down". What kind of speculation is that?
I highly doubt that they just use MI on third down. That'd be a complete waste of money and of a quality RB. MI is the starter in my book. |

Model of class and professionalism, can't believe people want to get rid of Ingram.

People only want to trade him because he stays hurt. Never finished a 16 games season |

Finding a fit in the Saints system, being happy with that role, and not becoming a locker room distraction is my biggest concern... If McCaffrey falls to us and we take him with pick No. 11, I suspect Ingram could be moved during the draft or AD will be moved after week 1... |

We've all seen enough of the Saint's offense over the last 11 seasons to know that's not going to be the case. AP will be shuttled in and out in seemingly random offensive subpackages just like Ingram, Hightower, Robinson, Ivory, Thomas, Bush, Cadet, Sproles, Bell, and the host of other Saints RBs back to 2006, including Deuce have been. Ingram has honed his talent to have 15 touches a games and be extremely effective in those touches. It's AP that's going to be playing catch up because he's never not been the center of an offense before. He'll soon find out that if he doesn't come in at get 4.5 YPC on 10 touches a game, that he won't get 10 touches a game. OTOH the very fact that AP will not be the center of the offense may work to his advantage too. But in the end, AP isn't going to take away touches from MI. And as Ingram correctly pointed out, he's been sharing the load in a RB by committee situation his entire career with the Saints. So in the end for him, there's nothing new under the sun. Quote:

I could still see us grabbing a scat back in the draft like Cohen or Samuel to complete Sean's offense's kind of running package.

Re: Mark Ingram responds to the Saints signing Adrian Peterson
if peterson breaks free a few carries a game would be worth it to me, mark is a gringer and needs a hole to break through where peterson could juke the same yardage or take it for lots of yards, i'm not saying to the house yet i need to see what he has left after training camp.

Now I do share your concern about Peterson not becoming a distraction. He's never been on a regular rotation with anyone. It will be interesting how he handles that. Like SFIAH said, if he doesn't get decent yardage on his 10 touches a game....He won't get 10 touches a game. How will he handle everything? Guess we'll see. |
