Had high hopes for Kruger, but he was a bust.

Hills might resurface if we get hit with OL injuries again

Quite a few also-ran DB's on the list. I guess when your projected nickel D DB's are all on IR or suspended by the second half of the year warm bodies are needed.

other than Mauti, no offense to these guys, but I hope we have better alternatives in '17

Too bad about Mauti. He recovers and he's going to catch on somewhere else like Ninkovich.

Can't see bringing Kruger back with all the DEs we have now...

Earlier in the offseason, I'd hoped we'd re-sign him and draft Hendrickson to guide him along...

We'll be fine; Kruger played well towards the end of the season, he was, after all, signed in Week 1...

And then he was recovering from the neck problem...we should probably keep his phone number on speed dial...

He'd be the only one on the list I'd want back at this point...Mauti will need another year for recovery...

I liked what Kyle Wilson did when he was healthy before he got hurt. He looked like he might be getting better at the position and I'd like to at least bring him to camp.

The problem I have with bringing guys like that back in is the snaps, reps you'd take from second year players who really flashed for us last year, our rookie CBs, and our guys getting healthy coming back...

I'd agree that while Wilson wasn't the CB projected by his draft status, he was a very solid slot DB...

And don't forget the Saints originally wanted Moore, lost out, and still got him (is that a good thing?), but SM's got great grades against Julio Jones...

I agree, I don't think Kruger ever really got a fair shake to be honest. Just tough luck in the NFL I guess.

After this rookie weekend, we should have a player pool of 90 from which to choose the roster...

...unless, of course, we make a trade... ;)

How didn't he get a fair shake?

Came in day 1 and was given the starting job, never earned it. Better yet, he was awful at the position and still played all year. Kruger was no different than Bobby Richardson. Meanwhile a guy that actually earned the spot rode the bench all season...

Maybe that's not his fault, but the coaches should have benched him at some point.

He wasn't awful at the position, he just had the deck stacked against him a little bit. I think you're misunderstanding what I meant by "fair shake" as in he didn't get an opportunity, I meant fair shake as in he had bit of bad luck to start off with.

But like I said, that's the NFL, even Cam Jordan had an off year. It happens, and that's just too bad.

Well, he came Day 1 as he wasn't signed until August 31, 2016 of the regular season; no training camp, nada...

Second, he was still recovering from a neck injury...

And third, just when he really was getting into his groove, he was injured in Week 4 and not at playing strength until Week 8...

It's moot now, but there were many challenges with bringing him in so late...

If newly signed FA Okafor (assuming he is 100%) is simply better than Kruger and injuries don't get in our way, we are going to be good on defense. I mean good. If you've noticed, we have made LB, S & cornerback strong positions this off - season.

IMO, the D-line is already athletic. Do not sleep on Okafor.

I hope everybody is right and I'm wrong on Okafor. He's big and fast, but that has not translated to much stats-wise. I know he was down the line on the depth chart, but you have to think if he was good enough the Cards would have found a way to get him on the field

Okafor chose New Orleans where he could become a starter from day 1 ;). The Redbirds are loaded and I don't think Alex wants to play behind Chandler J. He would be a rotational player at best.
