With the New Orleans Saints opening their rookie mini-camp on this weekend, you'll be hearing and reading about many of the new players for the first time.
In an effort to better acquaint you with the newest additions to the roster, here's a "Did ya know?" tidbit about each of the 19 first-year Saints:

LB Alex Anzalone (Florida)
One of the top prospects in the nation at Wyomissing (Pa.) High School, Anzalone initially committed to Ohio State and Notre Dame before settling on the University of Florida, the alma mater of his father, Dr. Sal Anzalone.


OL Collin Buchanan (Miami, Ohio)
The highest-rated prospect of the Saints' 12 undrafted players, Buchanan had four separate games in college in which he did not allow a single pass pressure, according to Pro Football Focus.

LS Chase Dominguez (Utah)
His identical twin brother, Reid, played volleyball at Cal-Irvine. Their parents, Ron and Tamara Dominguez are hair stylists.

Yes I am nearly always optimistic heading into a season, but I'm convinced this is the best roster we have ever had under Payton.
I cant remember being this fired up since maybe 2013?

I agree. I'm really excited about the defensive talent. Dline, LB and Secondary look stacked. There's going to be some awesome battles in TC. And tough cuts to make at the end.

True Dat, but its not just players, I think we've got the proper coaches in place as well.
It feels like the perfect storm for a playoff run.

Spot on a LS. With all the talent in the NFL it seems another player in a different position could handle that.

Sure they could. But would fans and coaches be willing to see the rate of successful long-snaps drop from 99.98% to 96%? That's about what I think the drop off would be.

Look we have some really nice pieces. I think our oline, especially if Armistead is healthy, is best it has been in quite some time. Like our RB's and that rookie looks like he will do some things. Defense is hard to tell, but should be better than last year. Might get to 20th. I just haven't seen us play a down and we have a lot of what if's right now. I do not think this is the most talented team we have ever had. That was 2011. That said, we are definitely building a team that is going to be very good, and if not this season then we will push for SB over the following two seasons if Drew is still playing at top level. We could push for playoffs this season but the sched is not easy and we are going to have to wait and see.

It feels like the best roster with the best depth that I can remember. If someone goes down we can truly put up the next man and still be competitive.

It has been a few years since i have really been excited about the players the saints drafted. looking forward to the off season
