Re: NFL owners approve shortening overtime to 10 minutes
With the NFL's emphasis on "player safety" ... how about getting rid of Thursday Night Football, eh?

College has OT right IMO.
Celebrations? Sure, I don't care if you celebrate. Start the play clock immediately after the play and if they can't get off the field in time for the extra point you either get penalized or burn a timeout. |
Re: NFL owners approve shortening overtime to 10 minutes
How about a boat race to determine a who wins a tie? It's actually quite popular at rugby tounaments after playing several matches in the heat and taking a beating all day. Drink up! :chug:

I'm liking that dance -er, celebration off to decide the winner. Or they could add some Canadian style rules in. You get one point for not fair catching the ball, one point for making the other team have to fair catch, that sort of thing.

Re: NFL owners approve shortening overtime to 10 minutes
The NFL should make a rule limiting the number, or their ability overall,
to make Rule Changes. There are way too many, and usually the result is bad--- even if it limits liability, and all... There should have to be some sort of constitutional convention, if you're wanting to make a major change like this. The overtime rules were fine like they were. The extra point was fine as it was. Replay only gives the officials a second chance to screw the game up. Everything was fine in 1978. |
