Five “camp bodies” with a shot at making the 2017 Saints*roster
 

Whether it’s Kasim Edebali, Isa Abdul-Quddus, Brian Dixon, Willie Snead, Bobby Richardson or Tommylee Lewis – there always seems to be a couple guys every year that make the 53 man roster and become contributors. And as evidenced by the names listed, sometimes it’s rather unexpected.

Some of us saw Snead, Lewis and/or Richardson happening, yes, but Edebali, Abdul-Quddus and Dixon blindsided almost everyone, media included.

Here’s the five guys that might currently be “no name camp bodies” that could surprise you.

Josh LeRibeus has the jump out of the five in this article right now with circumstances are definitely falling in his favor...

Corey Fuller has the goods to make it as a slot receiver behind Snead, but he's gonna have to show something in the kicking game...

Jesse Schmit looked to have had the job with a previous workout but broke his hand, so he's still on the Saints state of mind...

Maulet and Bighill have really over-achieved, but Fate is cruel and their size will be the limiting factor...

Corey Fuller is the breakout player I am looking at. he is far from a no name or a camp body. He might be our starting #2 by season end.

Baring any major injuries, here is my short list:

Thomas
Snead
Ginn Jr
Coleman

I think Fuller, Lewis and Jake will compete for that 5th spot.

His body of work says practice squad candidate. He doesn't look quite ready (route running is raw/avg hands) yet. I'm pulling for the former Tiger but it's gonna be tough.

Even though we brought Ted Ginn in I still fell like we need a burner and Corey Fuller will hopefully be that guy. Adam Bighill is my pick for camp beast. But with the injury to Unger the dark horse favorite could be Josh LeRibeus during training camp.

If Coleman continues to develop I won't be cheering for any camp body to replace him this time around.

If Coleman ever figures out how to use his body, he's going to be a monster. There's probably a reason Sean hasn't given up on him yet. I think the tools are there. It's time he puts it all together. If coach CJ can't help him unlock his ability, maybe it's just not going to happen :rolleyes:. I'd be surprised if he loses that 4th WR spot.

I know this sounds cliche but ... "can't wait until training camp!".

Speaking of special teams .... could this guy (Arthur Maulet) snag a spot on the final 53?? To be continued.
