What Saint would you put at the top of Lee Circle?
New Orleans Removes Famous ‘Lee Circle’ Monument
20 May 2017 The monument to General Robert E. Lee was removed from its pedestal in Lee Circle at the heart of the city of New Orleans. Mayor Mitch Landrieu used the event to claim victory for political correctness. http://www.mercurynews.com/wp-conten...ew_2.jpg?w=536 http://media.breitbart.com/media/201...83-640x480.jpg http://hechingerreport.org/wp-conten...-c-default.jpg Robert E. Lee statue flees Lee Circle and says goodbye to Mayor Landrieu https://i2.wp.com/neutralgroundnews....flees-NOLA.png https://i2.wp.com/neutralgroundnews....?fit=600%2C901 Actually the city has already replace the war memorial statue with a water feature of the homeless people wizzing on it. |

Re: What Saint would you put at the top of Lee Circle?
I'd put St. Robert E Lee back up there. I grew up deeply steeped in the southern traditions including the rebel flag that I no longer fly. I understand the whole slavery thing was wrong. But it was part of history. Should Egypt take down the pyramids down because they were built by slaves?
I am not a racist. I choose to be color blind, but I've had sooo many good times at Lee circle that I have a hard time taking down the statue. Are they going to remove the offensive name from the street as well? Anyway, I voted for Drew. Who Dat!:bng: |
Re: What Saint would you put at the top of Lee Circle?
I really am disappointed this is happening everywhere. But unfortunately we live in a time where political correctness is more important than anything else, including history.
By all means, the US should also constantly apologize and be in debted to Japan for the the two atomic bombs that we're dropped to end the war. |

Guido Merkins on second thought someone who would fit in someone like Darren Sharper. The crime rate in this city Darren would be a perfect choice.

Re: What Saint would you put at the top of Lee Circle?
In all seriousness about Jason David, the dude sucked but he was one of the most hardest working and determined player we have had. Just didn't have the skill set to make it.
He is also a very nice guy. I had a chance to hang out with him a bit and talk about non football stuff and he is one of the nicest down to earth people you will meet. He likes to talk, I actually had to extract myself from the conversation because I had somewhere to be His girl was pretty hot too but like a normal person. |

He said they should enclose a trough at the bottom with cascading water from the top flowing down the spire... And it could be the largest public urinal in the world and it should be called the Landrieu Pisser!!! Come Mardi Gras everyone will be taking pictures like they do in NYC from the Empire State Building... And that should be Landrieu's legacy... |

I grew up with that statue everyday. They can't take everything down, burn all literature and even stop teaching the material but they will never change the past! The future is hopeless for the very people who wish to kill the past. If you don't remember where you came from you're doomed to repeat your past!

Re: What Saint would you put at the top of Lee Circle?
I'd put Matt Ryan up there. It will remind everyone what a steaming pile of **** the whole ordeal became.

Re: What Saint would you put at the top of Lee Circle?
Maybe a black slave owner. Antoine Dubuclet, one of the wealthiest black slave owners in La. Also served in La Government. Many black slave owners in La. It would do much to educate everyone on history. There were also Asian slaves in La. I think several statues representing many aspects of slavery, not to celebrate it but to make people fully aware how slavery was much different in New Orleans.

Re: What Saint would you put at the top of Lee Circle?
IF YOU DIDN'T VOTE FOR BENSON... PLEASE CONSIDER
THERE WOULD BE NO NEW ORLEANS SAINTS WITHOUT BENSON. Tom Benson saved New Orleans from losing the Saints in the 1980s. He got us through Catrina (no matter what the problems) and he hired the right people to develop winning teams. We won a Superbowl. YOU MAY NOT KNOW.... Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium (formerly Fawcett Stadium) is an outdoor football stadium in Canton, Ohio, United States. It is located adjacent to the grounds of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and hosts the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, along with various high school and college football games. Dedicated 79 years ago in 1938, the stadium's original name honored the memory of John A. Fawcett, a former Canton board of education member, who died several years before the stadium was completed. On November 24, 2014, the owner of the New Orleans Saints donated $11 million to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, $10 million of which was to go into renovating Fawcett Stadium. In response to Benson's donation, the Hall of Fame announced that Fawcett Stadium would be renamed Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium as "the first step in a 'master plan' for major upgrades and expansion of the Hall of Fame Village." |
